Proposed new city

Well...guess the votes are in. The Johnson Ranch/SanTan Heights/Copper Basin area is attempting to incorporate into a city. The name they have chosen for the new city in Pinal County (just south of Queen Creek) is San Tan. Will be interesting to see how far this goes.

I have a friend in Johnson Ranch. Last time we were out he took me all the way into that "back area" south off of the Hunt Hwy. The road is still dirt but they're claiming it to be the next Fountain Hills (Yeah, not in your lifetime buddy) If it does come to fruition, it's cool that they're keeping certain areas preserved as a "state park".

Yeah, SanTan Mountains are preserved. My house is being built in Copper Basin. I hopw they get the incorporation thing going. Would be nice to be our own city. The general plans for the area is aiming for a very nice area. I don't doubt it will be moving along the lines of Fountain Hills within the next 5 years. Things change so quickly in Phoenix....I remember when I first moved here Scottsdale road north of Bell was a 2 lane road...no houses from Bell all the way up to Carefree highway. Bell stopped at Scottsdale, was a dirt road to Pima... Now look at the area. 16 years later and it is one of the most popualted and busy areas in the valley.

Remember when you could only drive on one side of Pima? When the 101 was just a bunch of lonley overpasses in the desert? When the 101 ended at University?
