AZ Law Thread

What happened to the Law thread?

Anyhow I have a question, my License plate was stolen off my car and replaced with another person's plate. I do not know how long it has been this way but I am not sure who to call about this.

Should I just dial 911 or should I call DMV? I hope I don't have to pay for plates all over again.

to answer the question...
just call your local police (not 911) and report it

Oh for some reason I thought the thread used to be sticky. Anyhow I guess I'll call the precinct I believe the crime was closest to. Thanks for your help!

I'll answer your questions today...I can find you the statute for you, but yeah you should def call someone. If you get pulled over now you're screwed...even if you tell someone to truth do you really think they havent heard it before.

Well what had happened is my car broke down by mother’s house over in North Phoenix. I left the car at her house for about a month and a half while I scraped the cash together for parts. Last Saturday I went with a friend to my mom’s house so we could tow the car to my house and work on it. Sunday I just happened to glance at the back of my car in the driveway and noticed the plate had been switched.

I think it had to of been someone local to my mother’s neighborhood. They would have known the car was sitting for a while and that I would probably not notice right away.

Anyway, I called crime stop yesterday and they are sending an officer today to pick up the stolen plate that was put on my car.

According to the officer I spoke with on the phone I will likely have to pay $5 to get new plates for my car. What really sucks is I just renewed my plates and now I have to spend more money to be a law abiding citizen while some jerk runs around town with free plates!
