Network Services Specialist II

Essential functions:

Point of contact for inbound customer maintenance requests, responsible for every customer issue or trouble ticket submitted to them, from initial ticket acceptance through closure. This will include working on assigned trouble tickets (25%), escalating/following up with carriers and customers to resove circuit issues (25%), troubleshooting existing voice and data issues, (25%), and using supplied monitoring tools in order to maintain network reliability (25%). · Provides 2nd and 3rd level technical support for customer maintenance requests · Provides 1st level higher technical support for our most strategic voice & data customers · Provides proactive network monitoring to identify potential issues; take corrective action as required · Ensures that customer trouble reports are resolved to the customer's satisfaction. · Minimizes Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) on all issues. · Access various Network devices/systems for trouble isolation and/or circuit testing. · Ensure that hand-offs to other Work Centers for resolution are minimal and seamless to the customer. · Flexibility to work various shifts in a 24x7x365 environment including overtime. · Consistently behaves in a manner that demonstrates concern for quality service and customer satisfaction. · Work with Customers, Vendors and/or Carriers to resolve Network and/or equipment related issues.

Qualifications:

· 5+ years experience supporting Telecom Data Operations · Possess strong customer service skills, a desire to assist people and the ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism · Demonstrates strong trouble shooting concepts and techniques. Ability to identify problems and implement solutions. A quick learner who can perform under stressful conditions. · Exercise independent judgment and works with minimal supervision. · English fluency is required; Bi-lingual language skills are highly desirable; specifically Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese. · Understands telecom switching topology and network architectures. · Familiar with various products such as Toll Free, LNP, Dedicated Service, Private Line, etc. · Well developed analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to multi task and set priorities accordingly. · Fully computer literate, with command of Microsoft Office software as well as technical and diagnostic programs and systems. · Ability to follow set process and procedures and be a valuable Team Player. · Strong knowledge of various telecom voice and data products. · Requires broad knowledge of telecommunications and network equipment to include routers (Cisco), hubs, switches, terminal servers, CSU/DSU's, multiplexors, and modems · Also requires ability to remotely configure, install, and maintain customer CPE equipment. · Must have understanding of routing protocals and domestic and international interface standards · Understanding of WAN Technologies: T-1, Frame -Relay, ATM, and Sonet. · Experience in dealing with LECs and other Carriers is a definite plus. Candidate needs to be familiar with the following ticketing systems and databases in order to complete job function: · Clarify · Remedy · LEXM · SMS Candidate needs to be familiar with the network management systems: · HP Open View · Netcool · General knowledge of SNMP Switch/Router and Test Equipment Knowledge: · DEX600E · DMS500 · Sonus VoIP · Centest · Netanalyst · Sage 950 · Cisco Routers and Operating Systems · Juniper Routers and Operating Systems · CSU/DSUs · Miscellaneous Switches, Hubs, Bridges etc. · Titan 5500 DACS · Titan 532L DACS · Alcatel 1631 DACS · Alcatel 1630 DACS · Alcatel ECS1 DACS · General knowledge of Lucent and Alcatel Networks

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in telecommunications

Dang yeah I see job postings like that around here in this area they don't get filled easy lots of interviewing, very picky but I can see why they are, good pay on a job like that.
