to iamboo:

i'm sure you got the time you claim, plus your car is lighter then mine and you raced in fontana which is almost sea level compare to palmdale which is all the way up in the mountains......

sorry to be soooooo pissy, but it just sucks, i thought my civic would have done better..... i guess i'm not use to these kind of criticisms....

when i was running 5 psi with the stock plugs/exhaust, i thought i was gonna do low 14's. But instead i ran a 15.4 @92 mph. I was pissed. Although i did have a 1.2 sec rxn and a horrible launch (2.6 sec 60 ft.).
I am not a bad driver either, i just hadnt raced since i blew my CRX apart (over a year ago). So i know how you feel.

Now i know i am in the low 14's, just because of my upgraded plugs, exhaust, and more boost!

I thought SRT-4 pushed 235ish at the wheels..... and has more torque (2.4L vs 1.7L).. easily beat the SRT-4?

SRT3 has 215 at the wheels. And i make as much torque as i do horsepower (atleast i did when i dyno'd it), so they wouldnt have much tq over me. Also, more displacement doesnt always mean more torque, and my old dyno sheet showed that.

Actually the SRT is rated 215 at the crank by DCX, but it actually dyno's around 220-230 at the wheels stock. Torque is around the same, I think a little higher, but could be lower.

someone screwed up on the engine dyno!. lol kinda like the 1968 L88 corvette. Said it was 400 hp at the crank when it was actually 510 hp at the wheels.

Just to clear up the numbers on the SRT-4..... The factory claimed 215hp/245t at the crank, when in turn most everone is dynoing at 220ish hp/250ish t at the wheels.

Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread... how much does the SRT boost from the factory?

I allways laugh when people start quoting HP rateing and for get to mention Weight.

SRT-4 Unofficially say 220 HP at the wheels. @ 2,870 lbs
Turboed civic LX Estimated 210 Hp @ 2474 LBs (396 lbs lighter then the SRT-4)

thats
SRT-4: 13.045Lbs Per HP
CIVIC: 11.780lbs Per HP

So with those Numbers I can believe that a turboed lx civic could beat an SRT-4.
you will probably be able to get more out of a SRT-4 with aftermarket parts, but I also believe that that turboed Lx is beating the snot out of Stock SRT-4's

(Weight/HP = Bragging rights)

deal with it.

Civic estimated HP is based off of what I read in this thread actual Hp may Vary, however in order for the Lx to reach the level of the stock SRT-4 it only actually needs 190 HP.
oh ya, for the SRT-4 to reach the Lx, it would need 243.63 Hp.

Have a nice day

Was this aimed at my post? I was not comparing the SRT-4 numbers to a turbo version of the civic. I was merely trying to clear up the confusion of a bunch of numbers being thrown out for the SRT-4. I was not looking for "bragging rights" and you totally took the post the wrong way. Sit back, and take a chill pill. I'm well aware that weight plays a big factor in performance. I, myself, are big boned!! With that said, I took your numbers and ran them through a calculator just to see what the "perfect race" would look like and here's what I got:

Dodge SRT-4: 13.712 @99MPH
Civic LX turbo: 13.254 @103MPH

Calculator used: http://home.1asphost.com/imurstar/HP.asp

sorry dude, it wasnt aimed at you. just in general. I see it every where. People and auto manufacturers throw around HP like its the end all to what makes a car good. its the same issue with the Si vs the Coupe. stock to stock there is not much difference betwen them, and its only because the Si weighs so much more then the Coupe.

the quote was not ment to go after you personaly, but to shed some light on a Highly Ignored part of a cars performance, Weight.

Here is my thought. I have two friends that have SRT-4's. One of them did change his BOV on the car. Now a stock SRT-4 has the BOV on the turbo welded, to change that my friend bought a new pipe that led from his intercooler to the turbo. Did not add any HP to the car but did make a much nicer ***** sound. Here is my conclusion. I have read alot on the SRT-4's. They say they have 215 HP, and they do. Dyno charts have shown they run that to the wheel and sometimes more going as high as 225 from a stock SRT-4. Now if the Turbo civic is pushing 205 HP or around that and the SRT-4 is pushing 215 HP I would think the SRT-4 will win. I'm not even taking into the account that the SRT-4 has much more torque than what the civic may be pushing. I also do know that those cars do not have a great takeoff from 1st gear but pull real hard at 2ed. I think this may have happened and may be true only if the SRT-4 drivers were not great. Even then it is still is hard to believe. Just a suggestion, you need to start to keep a video camera in your car now.

look at the weight. the civic is lighter, by a few hundred pounds. And its not like the civic doesnt pull hard through the gears.

i can most def, see the civic pulling on the SRT if the timing and gearing etc are all at the right time. but pulling in the high end? doesnt the LX top out at 120ish max? the neon goes 140+ to my knowledge. of course im talking about an uncommon race speed, but its just an example.

Nope, that's 100% true. We have a guy on our board that is in the Air Force in Germany and he took his SRT-4 to the Autobahn with a GPS unit and that's exactly what he topped out at, 155 mph.
