Going to race New SI
Going to race New SI
A guy i go to school with had a 98 civic DX and me and him used to race alot everytime he got a new mod, because his main goal was to beat me(he never came close). Well he totaled that car and he got a 2003 SI and he wants to race, and hopefully beat me now. So as soon as there is a sunny day we are going to run after school. I have a 01 LX with FIPK, 2.25 inch custom exhaust. I might wait until i get my kamikaze header on i just ordered, but i will race him before i get that and then again to see what difference it makes. I will let you all know the outcome!

you don't need no turbo to beat an Si...
All you need is some really good driving skills, and some minor bolt ons. Well, maybe not. But you don't need no turbo..
with a good set of tires... a short shifter and i/h/e. The EX should beat the little egg.
With just an intake and better tires, the "little egg" would put multiple car lengths on the civic ex/lx/dx

Trust me, if you're making these statements based on numbers alone, then please take yourself to the nearest dealership and test drive the new Si. The car doesn't even have to be broken in to notice that it's definitely quicker and pulls much better.

ZetaR...I make statements like that because they are true. A modded Ex with a good set of tires should beat a new stock SI. And yes i have driven your little egg...let just say i'm glad i kept my FAMILY Accord sedan.
What I meant was that the SI, with an intake would still put multiple car lengths on the a EX with I/H/E, short shifter. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
Doesn't the EX only gain like 5-7whp with I/H/E?
The SI, even though 200lbs heavier, has 33hp, a much flatter torque curve, and shorter gear ratios than the EX.

I just posted in the other SI thread.
I'm going to say it again. A stock SI will beat a I/H/E, ss, whatever (other than nitrous or turbo) EX every single time. Assuming the drivers are the same the SI will win each time. I go to the drags and have run against IHE EX's and I beat them everytime. Granted I do have a CAI, but I normally beat them by a second at least...which is quite a distance at 85+ mph. (and I am a crappy driver)
