Well I was on my way to the local spot where people meet up before races here in Ft. Worth. I came up to a light and what looked like an older 2 door chevy blazer pulled up next to me. It looked pretty nice. He started revvin at me, so I thought why not. We take off and he just kicked my a$$ by 5 car lengths. For a second I was like damn that sucks. We both pull into the parking lot where everyone is about 10 minutes after we raced. I noticed it was a GMC, and sure enough it had a typhoon emblem on it. Man those things kick ***. Talked to the guy for about 30 minutes. He said he was running 12's stock and he hasn't been able to go the track since he got his turbo upgraded.

Here is a picture of a Typhoon

And here is a picture of a Syclone (the truck I used to own)

These are just two of the many pics I have found of the web real quick.

These are two bad-*** vehicles, two not to be messed with by the likes of our civics

They were the fastest truck off the line, but I am if they weren't the fastest car of all then they were at least the second or third fastest

GM first released the Syclone as a 1991 model and then switched over to the SUV body and produced around 2500 Typhoons for 1992 and 2200 for 1993.

They both had a turbocharged 4.3 liter V-6 that was factory rated @ 280 HP and over 340 ft/lbs torque with a 4-speed automatic + all wheel drive.

(I was one of the few "go fast without a V-8" performance-starved domestic diehards in the mid 80's to early 90's before I switched to Hondas).

Ya, the Grand National from 1987 was the fastest production car in North America, the only one better was the 87 Grand National GNX which is beyond rare! The Typhoons were nicknamed 'Corvette killers' for a very good reason.

Yeah wow. At Kasabian's, a local classic car type dealer place in Dublin, there was a typhoon, a Gran National, a GNX, a Cyclone, and an old school Lightning, all in the same floor room, all in the same day. I spent like an hour just lookin at those cars along. Oh, they also had the 15th anniversary Trans am, it basically had the Gran National motor, turbo v6, 0-60 in 5 flat. Fast as hell for such a heavy car.

But yeah, back to the trucks, just freakin wow man. They are so bad ***
