EX vs LX
on sunday like around 2:45am i was driving with my frind sort of buzzing from drinking, saw a 7th gen civic lx coup auto. it was going all fast. the lx was all stock and so i decided to test my sri and my dc headers mines also ex auto. we both stopped at a red light. i was moving forward a lil and so was he. when it turned green we both took off with me leading and another red light but this time he stopped few feet from the crossing line and i stopped on the line. i knew he stopped before the line so that when its yellow on the other side he could start moving forward but i couldnt move any more cuz i was already on the line. it truned green and i took off faster then him but then like in few seconds he start to go ahead of me and i was already flooring it could go any faster. i was almost half a car behind him and then like in 80mph or so i went faster then him but i think he was slowing down to make a turn. anyways my question is why couldnt i burn or at least be a head by a car lenght?? i think it was cuz my car is dropped and all the weight went down made my car slower. after i dropped my car i felt the heaviness.

I am guessing that your car did not change it's weight when it was lowered (much) second, you can never tell if something is bone stock, maybe he had a bunch of engine mods and nothing else, third I think you bog your engine and don't accelerate as fast when you "floor" it....

it only feels heavier because ur lowering springs or coilovers made the suspension stiffer... but the thing is u didnt launch it... and also the lx auto gearing is setup better than the ex auto gearing
all these excuses, obviously the lx was modded, from what this guy couldnt see, it looked stock, any exhaust? any type of engine noise? keep and ear out next time, and give it some more practice at the track, before u know it, ull pull on em with the right mods.

It could have been a 2003 lx...correct me if I'm wrong but don't the 03 lx's come with the 127 hp vtec also? That is what the dealer told me I think...The amount of people in you car and how much gas you have also play an important factor. Don't drink and drive

LX does NOT come with VTEC. Only EX's and Si's come with VTEC.

i only had one friend who is skinnnnnny and i heard notthing from the other car he had a girl passanger and i know he had nothing cuz the only thing i heard was my intake sound.
Still doesn't mean he's stock. He could've probably upgraded his ECU or simply had launched better than you.
Plus bolt-on modifications do not decide the winner... especially in our cars. All they do is eat up low-end power to a wee lil' high end jump.
If you have on 17 inch rims (not forged) I can see why you lost if his wheels were stock.

I managed to take an 02 EX in my 01 LX on Friday night. The EX had a CAI and I have I/H/E on mine. It was kind of a funny race because afterwards he was telling everyone that I had cheated and that there was no way that a LX could beat an EX.

Similar thing happened to me but I have an LX auto. I tried to pass this EX auto to see who it was. Off the turn, I floored it, and appearantly so did he. We were dead even up to about 50 and then we had to slow down due to traffic lights. His car was heavily modded and mine is bone stock when it comes to "performance" mods.

NO
racing in an auto civic..........
nice one
I have a manual and no problem beating the lx's and even ex's I've seen around here, I love looking over and seeing the puzzled look's on their faces as I start leading them and continue to lead them

nah, i'm not saying that at all, around here, the one's i've seen, at least as far as outside looks, they look pretty much stock and although its only been 3 times, 2 lx's and 1 ex, i've whooped on them, don't take that to mean i blew them away like a supra tt versus a gremlin, but it wasn't close
from what i've seen on here i know there's civic's out there that would toast me, i'm just saying against stock
