Civic vs oz rally lancer
My best friend has an 03 ozrally lancer 5speed and I have a 02 civic lx auto (yeah I said auto) Anyway me and him both pull up to a light and he looks at me very slyly like he knows he could beat me. I knod and the light turns green after a slight screech of wheels we are off. Off the line he takes me, He pulls ahead by half a car lenth and still pulling. By 3rd gear Im starting to gain momentom and catch up with him. Once I catch up I hit D3 and bam!! I pull em' and by the end of the race I beat him by half a car length. It was funny. His lancer has no mods in it, and all I have is a CAI and a rear section exhaust. That couldnt of helped me much but it was very fun anyway.

Still a nice kill though. OZ lancers ARE extermely slow. Now an EVO would be a different story. Put that BS flag down and remember...the driver's skills are ALWAYS a factor too.

hey dont doupt it I have no reason to lie about it. Maby he just cant drive or something, but in the end I overtook him. Ive heard of auto lx civics beating 5 speed ex civics. anything is possible.

I heard of Geo Metro beating Supras
Driver is the most important factor.
Maybe the guy didn't know how to shift.

auto doesnt specifically mean slow. definately not in the amg package for the new m3, where its 5 spd shifting at 4/10s of a second. but in an economy car like a civic, auto is so...trash.

well the point is that oz rally's are really slow ... they've got a 2L engine, but only 120 hp ... and a 9.5 sec 0-60 time (www.edmunds.com) ... so they're pretty slow ... a jetta gl vs. an oz rally would be a good race ;P

The lancer driver must have backed off!! or was not a good driver. stick should always beat auto especially if the hp numbers are so close.

I think he meant SMG, which stands for Sequential Manual Gearbox. Anyways, Lancers are slow and I have no trouble believing it. Its nothing to brag about so why would he lie?

again, i ask you to show me where i said beat. i said kept up with, as in the distance between our cars never changed and who ever punched it first stayed in the lead until 110.

reason i called bs on this story was that there was not a finish line mentioned, the lancer has about the same hp and torque as the lx, and its a 5 speed. im guessing he probably let off the gas and you went by, for whatever reason.

You know whats wierd about my car? It SEEMS quick when I drive it with no one around. But as soon as there is another car trying (or succeeding ) to keep up..I realize how slow it is. Anyone else noticed this?
