3000lbs aprox.

Me:
2001 Civic EX sedan
~135hp estimated Stick
2560lbs aprox.

i have a custom catback and a cold air intake... yea well im pretty sure u can get around 10hp from those mods... anywhoo... i bet he dont know how to launch.. and he dont know how to drive other than flooring it

Race 2
ok this i been trying to setup for some time...

1997 probe gt
about 180hp stick

he has a new intake manifold, greddy exhaust, short ram intake, racing clutch
he knows how to race.. he runs mid to high 15's on the track but since he got his clutch teh car hasnt been under the low 16's so i dunno how i will fare.. my car can keep up with high 15 crx's

Both of them would be able to easily kill you. Even if they aren't the greatest drivers. Also you have maybe 7, maybe 8hp gains at the most with the mods you have, no way 10.

pwr/ weight of your car is way lower than the others. They will also have way more torque. If the grand am friend knows what he is doing, he'll beat you. Ditto w/ the other (unless his clutch is too messed up)
But prove me wrong- you'll make me happy i got a civic :=)

I disagree.....I wouldn't say that that the grand am will easily win....if you get a good launch and I mean good shifting flawlessly...you could probably take him....you are much lighter....do not have that much gas in your tank if you race....as far as the probe goes....I'd be willing to bet he would win no problem but it is a driver's race.

I'm still failing to see how you think it will be a pretty even race with at least a 40-45 hp difference?

I'm sorry but difference in weight is not going to be even close enough to make up for the 40-45 hp difference.

Rolling start or not, there is no chance in hell you would have been able to beat him unless he was like the worlds worst driver and he wasn't flooring it.

now I am not saying that the civic is going to win. But, I know that horsepower is not everything. Like I said before, I dont know anything about the grandam, but from a stop, automatic transmission (that could possible suck), weight difference, and who knows how much HP could be lost in the grandam at the tires.....40 HP isnt everything.

tell them that "Horsepower to ratio says youre ****ed!"

why not tell them...

you have a cool air intake. a Nos fogger system and a T4 turbo, I see an AIC controller. It has direct-port nitrous injection. Yeah, and a stand alone fuel management system. Not a bad way to spend 10,000 dollars. then say if i used my nawz it would of blown the welds on the intake.

but being realistic, just show them your flat torque curve.

well, Grand am does have ram air and has 175 horse and 205 torque. the trans is auto in all and its a good trans.(my mom has one that i drive frequently) it will most likely beat you, unless the guy isnt flooring it. the probe with the mods listed will murder you. but since you said he only runs mid 15's im not sure he can drive cause mid 15 is stock time. the KL-03 (probe engine) will not be phased by a flat torque curve cause it has an even flatter one with more lb/ft. i think youll probably lose both times, but its more about having fun than winning or losing i think. so good luck, and have fun.

The ram air won't take effect until 90+ MPH. The race will be over before then. IMO, the Probe will be a win, but not a cakewalk. The GrandAm, uhh, I'm sorry to say that it will destroy you.

Dude, don't live in this dreamworld that we call the Internet..Go race him, and tape it, for all to see...

My bet is that you will get your *** handed to you by both...even from a standing start, the Grand Am will spank it to you...I don't think that you having a stick, will overcome the fact that he has 205lb/ft of torque. The 3.4L motors are good motors, have nice torque, and a really nice top end. The probe, with the mods listed, should destroy you if driven well....IMO, both cars will absolutley slaughter you...Oh..and your 10hp number is a bunch of balogna...thats laffable...

I raced a Grand Am SE (same motor as the GT, only with 170hp) and from a rolling start I put it to him pretty good up thru 3rd gear, at which point, he started to catch up at a very suprising rate. I'd say that by 110 he would have been passing me with a nice head of steam...Those cars are suprisingly quick.

I think the civic will beat the Grandam and it will be a close race with the GT perhaps.

According to my calculations by using 175hp and 3000lb for grand am,
it should do
15.88sec 1/4mile

and your Civic can do about 16.2sec 1/4mile

so if your friend makes a mistake and you do a perfect race, then you are close

Wow greatcasa you changed your mind about street racing fairly quickly. One minute you call all street racers morons who endager themselves and everyone around them.

You'll find many people who race and get hurt or hurt others, finally realize that what they were doing was stupid. I comment on how what they did was stupid and how racing is stupid and many people write to the thread and say "wow, racing is stupid after reading this, I realize that and am going to stop." You on the other hand haven't figured it out
if you're not on a track you're wrong plain and simple. Get it through it through your f**king skull!
These people aren't going to be on a track, you know that.

Oh and feel free to pass me on your name and liscense plate number so I can pass it on to your local authorities.
He posted the above because he'd like nothing better than to see me arrested and my license suspended for street racing.

Those are things you said, correct?

Now you are debating who would win this little street race. lease:

And you called me a hypocrite.
