My friend has an 01 Dakota automatic 4.7L V8
He beats my 03 Civic EX 5 speed everytime by about a car length.
Should this happen? Or do I just suck at driving.

lol, twice the cylinders and more than twice the displacement. I would say he is supposed to win.
Next time ask him to race in autocross and you'll be able to whip him.
It seems you drive pretty good to keep it that close.
