Question who would win

ok, who is more likely to win this race, bone-stock base RSX, or 01 EX coupe 5-speed?

edit: the RSX is 5-speed, and my ex has a DC exhaust(like that makes much of a difference)

rsx. a bone stock base rsx 5 speed kept up with my 93 prelude si (dohc non-vtec) and i am absolutly positive my prelude could have run circles around my ex 5speed civic. but it all depends on the driver i guess. if the rsx driver screws up shifting or soemthing and the civic driver is flawless, i guess he could pull it off.

edit: my ex also has a dc exhaust and the prelude, or in this case, rsx would still win.

damn, a buddy of mine has a gtz as well same year and his car would roast my civic on an open fire. yes it could kill a prelude of that year, ecspecially an auto, but i dunno how a civic would run with that.

edit: only one to find out, race the rsx.

I dunno man....races aren't all about the horse but usually what compensates is the weight of the car. In this case you are basically talking about a glorified civic versus a regular civic. Weight does not play that big of a role here in taking the power away from the 160 i vtec engine. Si's can wax the crap outa a stock vic. Why would it not be the same for an RSX? This guy has to suck hardcore as a driver and you have to be perfect for a win. It is worth a try though..be sure to post what happened.

well said, oh, and its not like my friend is a bad driver either, as far as the hp difference, GTZ to EX, i think the reason we're even is cause of gearing, his is more for speed

Glorified civic HAHAHA, base rsx would probably win unless hes a bad driver.

At least it's a "Glorified DOHC 2.0 liter" civic, which looks better than the SI.

YOU ARE WRONG. THEY ARENT AS FAST AS PEOPLE TELL YOU. DRIVERS RACE. A COUPLE TENTHS DIFFERENCE MEANING .2 - .3 TENTHS.... IF HE SCREWS UP OR YOU ARE A BIT BETTER DRIVER...THE SI LOOSES.

**DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE**

that being said a rsx like an si would take and an ex everytime if the drivers were evenly matched. however if he sucks you could make it close.

it could happen, the driver of the rsx would have to suck and you would have to be a really good driver. I've beaten my friend with a base rsx, except his is an automatic and he doesn't really know how to drive very well.

You do know that that gen prelude also came with the shitty SOHC Accord motor, puttig out like 140HP or so...couple 140hp, with a high curb weight, and an auto, and, well.....it's just a slow car....

A good running, well driven Quad 4 H.O. GTZ will absolutley destroy an EX.....

I'm not a domestic fanboy or anything...I just know my cars....back then, a 180HP N/A 4 banger was pretty damn impressive (hoping not to show my age or anything) Actually, it still is today. Those cars from what I remember will turn a low low 15 stock...

BTW, my money is on the RSX, hands down..as an exhaust doesn't do JACK for an Ex...

I think some people are confusing the canadian SI with the US SI... then again maybe not... someone should clarify...

I had no clue the RSX comes with a 5spd. I thought the only RSX with a 5 speed was the typeS. The regular one has 160hp, like the Si right?
