Finally have my first street encounter post!
Ok, if you cant tell just looking at my avatar, i recently traded for a new Z. Ive finally put some decent miles on my car and decided to test it to extremes, both trying to max my fuel economy and testing the fun factor of my car.
Anyways, every morning there is this retard in a ford t-bird (94' ish model or so...) that thinks he all badazz no one can touch me guy. And every morning this guy just HAS to pass me, and keep flying by at like 90 all the way across the EOE "tweener" (chicago burbs guys should know this road) Anyways, every day i let him go cuz im still learning my new car and the roads have been cold and this one especially gets very icy overnight. This morning i saw that this guy was in the left lane just before the road becomes the expy and i pull up behind him at the light. To start, I wave to him, hoping that he will notice in his mirror. Dont know if he has yet or not. Light turns green and he trys to pull off his dragster takeoff from the light, i obviously just push on teh gas and stick with him. Car in the middle lane falls a few lengths back and gives me room to move over and let the games begin. (obvious that there is NO traffic in front of us for quite some distance or i wouldnt have done this.) I downshift to second and punch the gas. (note: i never go WOT during this post....) and begin to cruise past him, he realizes FINALLY that it is me and tries to take me on. I just keep easing down the gas to keep myself in line with him. Upshift to third and just continue rolling ahead, once im finally a few car lengths in front of him, the 3 lanes become 2 now, and i slow to let him catch up. He gets in the right lane of the 2 now, and tries again. I let his rear tires get to about my mirrors, downshift and punch it again, Once again, EAT this guy alive. Now it seems that he has had enough and decides that hes done playing and wants blood. He just goes full throttle as do I, once again i am looking at him in my rearview mirror he is so far behind, looking down to realize that i just jumped from around 65 to just shy of 100 in a few seconds yet he was giving his all to try and keep up (ok, i lied, i go WOT Once but can ya blame me?). I notice 2 vehicles merging onto the expy up ahead (appx 1/2 mile or so) and i let off the gas and roll in neutral for a while, letting him catch back up a bit again. car in my lane is slightly farther ahead than car in his lane, so i put on my signal, get in front of the slow car, and open up again. He follows my lead (not using his signals thou) and follows me back into the left lane. Open up again and he once again tries to keep up i figure this guys had enough for one day and maybe he will jsut back off now, but NO, he wants to play stupid azz on me and start riding my bumper (tailgating at 90 is stupid and anyone who does this should be shot.) Needless to say, he knew i wasnt going to let him pass me so he stop bothering to try and pass, and just played along trying to keep up. We finally slow to traffic speed as we join with a large congestion of cars and im thinking ok, thats enough now. We near the bend south towards lake and the end of the EOE, and traffic once again clears slightly. He once again chooses to get in the slower of 2 lanes and i just keep going. I finally get around some slow traffing into the far right of the 2 right turn lanes (only far right has turn on red priviledges) and he gets in the left of the 2, and decides to go on red anyways, were both pulling into the turn and i let it open again as i exit the corner and just pull ahead of him into teh left turn lane that leads me to my work. I slow and see him pass me so i give him one of those military slautes for trying, and get the bird back. I just cant believe some people, this guy especially. Im giving him a run for his money, lending him the use of my radar detector while were speeding, and he has to be an azzhole about it by riding my bumper and fippping me off. For anyone here, at least have the dignity to admit when youve lost and not be an azz about it like this guy did. I personally cant wait to get OWNED now that ive finally started using my car for what its made for. That way ill know what vehicles are worth the loss of fuel economy over and which ones are best left alone. S2Kman, I want to have a run with ya when the warm weather get here! Oh, and hopefully ill be up at gurnee next saturday so if your there we can finally meet.

point... kind of a lame race george, you can do better than that! have to get some races int he summer at the local meet ups. THEN you can brag bout beatinf some REAL cars

Rep Power: 0 Yea i got automatic, but 90% of the time im using the shiftronic mode. And whats the problem with having an automatic? Put mine side by side with the "real" manual one and we will be running comparable times let alone mine will be more consistent. I bought my car to enjoy it, not work my *** off to drive it. I got a TOURING model, not TRACK. I bought it for comfort, not race.
Thats gonna be a real fair race to put me up against your brothers "turboed" and built up rx7 against my stock Z. What kind of race is that going to be knowing that he can wipe the floor with just about anything that gets thrown at it? I doubt that a manual Z with a professional driver would beat him. Maybe if your brother gets that g35c you were talkin about ill run against that?

You can keep your manual transmission all you want, ill stick with my automatic piece of **** Z.
