First day out

I finally had it out of the garage today and ran into a couple of cars that I would have thought I should have done better. The first was a new Si completely stock (I talked to the guy after we raced). Pulling from a light he was riding my a$$ so I held 2nd until I could get out in front of traffic and still held 2nd he then started past me at full throttle. I held with about 1/4 gas until he pulled about 1/2 car on me and then floored it. By the time I shifted to third I had about 1-2 cars on him and by midway through fourth I had pulled about 5 cars after that he let off. We went again, rolling out in 1st I let him get on it 1st and then did then same, this time I pulled a good 2+ cars by third, and pulled to around 5-6 midway through fourth. I honestly think I should have done better compared to some of the cars I ran into last year, but I was shifting easy and who knows maybe he is just a good driver .

I also ended up next to a newer BMW, which I swear said 325i on the back, but it had dual exhaust and looked like a 2007 model. He did not bite when we were at the light, but I still got on the gas a little bit. He followed me onto a to curve that merges onto a two lane and tried to catch up. I figured if he caught up all he would do is attempt a fly by so I decided to floor it and prevent him from even catching up. Thinking that I would easily walk away from a 325i I was suprised when he seemed to be slowly gaining on me. We both had to slow due to traffic, but from what I could tell from the short period of time we did run is that it would have been a really good race, if we would have actually raced, with him maybe even winning. What confuses me is that a 2006 325i should NEVER be able to keep up with me like that even coming at me full speed like he was. Also the 325i has dual tip exhaust NOT dual exhausts. The only car that I could find that fits the description is the 2007 335i, which would explain why it seemed so fast. Also it would explain why when he was at a stop light he did not seem to be driving a manual but the movement of the car seemed like that of a manual transmission car.

Re: First day out

Driving is everything bro. If you don't know how to drive your car, a slower car with a better driver can pull on you. I was in a cobalt (non ss with a 5 spd) and ran the 2.7 V6 tiburon and I pulled him every time just because I was a better driver.

Re: First day out

Yeah, I can drive my car, but I really don't like to be too hard on it unless I am at the track. Besides my third gear syncros are going bad fast.

Re: First day out

Think what you want but if you're going to do it, do it in the safest conditions you can muster.

When I think of street racing I think of a meet just to race. Believe me we have those around here and I have NEVER participated. So yeah, I really don't street race, I would say that I am like most my age that have a quick car, they are not going to turn down a chance at a decent race on the OPEN road.
