Em2 :vs: Ep3

is it just me or is the EXs are actually faster than the SIs. When ever i race one off the line to the end of 4th i am in front by 1 car length. Then around 5th gear they pull because they are DOHC and im SOHC. Does anyone else noticed the same thing?

ok, the Si doesnt pull on you simply b/c it has a DOHC motor.
However, an EX w/ bolt ons can give the Si a slight challenge. 0-60 in the EP3 was in the low 8's.

si >= em2/es2 power to weight i think.....of course, that only takes into account max power. driver ability should make a difference

I use to beat Sis quite offten, when I had I/h/e flywheel, clutch, and shortshifter. I even beat a guy who had an SI with i/h/e we stoped after a couple of runs with me pulling a couple of cars and he could not believe that all I had were my mods. They do weight about 100lbs more than a civic and sometimes I wonder if their shape is aerodynamic

100 lbs equals roughly 10hp. Actually I was wrong and an Si is almost 200lbs heavier. Plus I forgot to mention that I had shaved over 100lbs from my stock weight. So figure I weighted 2495 without the driver and was making 145 crank hp with my setup (which I think is a fair #) that is 17.2 lb/hp, a civic Si at 2785lbs would have to be making 162 hp for it to be a drivers race. So I would say with my mods a stock Si was drivers race with my advantage and a slightly modded one was a drivers race Si advantage (so I guess I got lucky with the I/h/e one that I raced)

Oh I wanted to create one of these cause my buddy WAS gonna get an ep3 all on his own. Then his mom tells him no (but he's paying for it all right.) and then he's going back to get his 3rd scion box. 3rd one! She 'basically' says she doesn't want him driving a good sporty car, with 42k @ $11,400. She wants him in a new car... which is this box, and like a moron he listens. And you ask "Mikecivexxx, why do you care?" lol. Cause I have to listen to him b*tchin everytime we drive and he has no power. Sorry had to vent.

yea i beat 2 EP3s before one of which was a friend of mine and he had only intake and exhuast where as i have I/H/E clutch and out of evertime we raced either stopped or from a roll i would win only when we get to higher MPH is when he would pass.

ep3 sucks. honda wasted their time with the ep3 civic. i rhomped on ep3s when i was na. intake, header, downpipe, exhaust, exedy organic clutch, lightened fidanza flywheel, new falkens, short shifter and weight reduction.

i thought ep3 wieghed around 300 lb heavier than the vic..

an xB is just barely adequate in acceleration sometimes. Unfortunately, the EP3 wasnt a particularly sporty car in terms of acceleration. 0-60 in the low 8 second range is fairly average for a 4 cylinder NA engine now adays. C&D mag tested the 8thgen LX sedan 5 speed and even that had a better 0-60 time.

i have raced three, one with just and intake...and beat him by about a car. the other had a cat-back, intake, and seats were removed....and we stay dead even. both of these races were from a dig. the last one was from a 30 roll and i put about 2 cars on him almost instantly.

Driver race on the street obviously.
Stock a3 is slow.
But responds to mods well.

Race header, Intake, Hondata Reflash; I ran 14.6-7 consistantly at trap 93.
One guy ran a3 with bolt ons ran 14.2

I don't see any d17 with bolts running 14's.

On the street, numbers doesn't matter, could be lots of various things.

Good wins.
