from a local dyno, they hit about 145hp/tw stock, 159hp/tq with i/h/e
but yes, that was manual. the tC actually (according to the EPA) gets better mileage auto than manual. meaning, the auto is geared for economy more than the manual, which is geared pretty well for low punch. very reasonable to beat an auto one.

I don't think it matters if it's an auto or not. A friend has an auto tC and I raced him and he beat me by a couple cars
I don't have i/h/e, but I truly don't think they would've been able to do that much a difference against a tC.
Is his tC sc'd?

I unno, I don't race anymore.
Stopped racing when a friend of mine lost control right beside me. Saw his car do a couple flips in the air. Not good. Wasn't racing, though. Just driving down to his house. But that still proved me that the roads are not safe here.

If it is... why the hell didn't I beat my friend with a tC? I've beat three Celica GT in the past.

if you have i/h/e you could theoretically stay with one if it was auto. and your driving a 5 speed. those things are heavier than our cars though. so you had the weigh advantage.

I somehow doubt that his car beat a tC... but I do believe he outdrove the tC's driver. (I ran 15.36 with a hacked airbox and a header, on video too.)
Most tC guys I come across are more interested in looks than anything else.
But congrats nonetheless.

im probably going to get a tc now since i own too much $$ to school and by the time im done paying it off its going to be 13months....in 13months, rsx wont be made anymore :-\
plus i think tc is the best bang for you buck. has everything under 20G...where as the type s goes for 25 and its fwd, i dont think a fwd car should be that expensive, new or used....

your forgetting one thing, the tC does not receive as much aftermarket support as the rsx it never did and never will. Thats the number one advantage of owning a car under the honda badge-aftermarket support. And i doubt there will be a 1stgenScion.com haha anyways what you do with your money is up to you, tC's do look badazss.
yeah i know man thats the trippy part, but atlest scion has TRD, and TRD items dont void the warrenty bcuz it IS toyota's company.
i still dont know yet man. my dad was saying just leave your school payments to me and get a car but then its not goint to feel right. i hate freeloading man...
i obviously rather have the type s. overall its a better car. plus ive read alota bad things about the interior of the scion tc. but we'll see soon....its still a toss up...

To be honest, my first choice was a legacyGT,... then RSX-S, then Scion tC... all came down to income. Obviously, the RSX_S is a "better car," but after TTL and the like, I paid nearly 6,000 cheaper and now I'm just as fast as any stock one.
I ran this with a hacked airbox and a megan race header. The guy in the EP3 is a friend of mine, he was running (I/E) at the time. Next time I go, I will have added a magnaflow exhaust, injen CAI, NST pullies, and an S-pipe (fixing a 1.25 inch gooseneck in the stock exhaust). 14's should be in my reach.

As far as tC aftermarket support goes... There are several companies already making a full line of products, including head packages, turbo kits, lots of different I/H/E combinations, ignitions... pretty much anything you can get for a honda EXCEPT cams and ECU upgrades.
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. And just so you know, everything's a "fat pig" compared to a civic. I'm at 2900lbs before weight reduction, and race-weight (without driver) is between 2780-2800... yes, i weighed it. 155wtq and extremely short gearing make up for it.

ahhhh no support for th tC from aftermartket.... dezod is making a turbo kit for that car...
when i had a lightly modded em2 ( intake and exhaust) always wanted to race a tC, but all i found were chicks driving those... never got the chance... now i got a em2 turbo and tC's are all over me but they keep losing

Yeah, i think it wouldnt be hard to beat a tC auto with a civic manual if you shift fast enough. Ive never driven a tC, but toyotas autos are incredible greeny and very stubborn when it comes to driving fast, and it feels like their torque converters suck the power in for a whole second each time it shifts. Although performance was the goal with the tC so maybe they made it better. The had Shoa do the suspension tuning for that car.
