02 civic vs 2000 eclipse gt

before i go find out for myself against my friend, who would win a race between my 2002 civic ex coupe (5 sp.)-only mod is exhaust giving me like what 2-3 hp
against my friend's 2000 eclipse gt auto ?

if your manual and he is auto and its not a v6 youll win! you may have a chance with a v6 auto but im not 100% on that one.

plus this guy isn't even 18. i don't know him, but odds are he isn't the best driver. i'll take the car that could low-mid 16's any day any time over one that only wins with the best driver. there's a 70+hp disadvantage for the civic...

i'm a honda fan, but not expecting a miracle.

i beat camrys 4bagers auto by a little. and accord V6 until about 55mph. i think the Gt is the 4 cylinder one so you should be pretty close. i dont know how many horse power they have but they are pretty heavy. a little trick: try to get some body to record it in his car. that should make a pretty big difference.

i bet you'll win. If its from a dead stop and you launch on him first thing off the line you will get a nice lead and if you drive good you'll most likely keep it. Although you have a bad hp disadvantage you have a huge weight advantage, like chrisleecool said, eclipses are pigs

when i was a noob stick driver, i raced some chick in her 3rd gen V6 auto. she killed me. we were both stock. she killed me bad. but it would have been less if i knew how to drive better. idk what it would be like now...probably just kill me by less of a distance. im sure of it

50 or 70 more hp is almost perfectly equalized by the weight difference, and then driver skill and the difference in power loss from the trannies, you have a shot at winning for sure.

It would be a drivers race IMO. 50-70 hp is a big difference... but think of like.. a Grand Am, 170hp, auto... Mostly a drivers race, with an edge to the civic after the GA hits 2nd gear....

my friend has a '00 eclipse gt mt(no engine mods)... he stay even with a mustang gt.... not sure about the auto... but i think u will lose...i raced my friend(me at the time: i/e) and i get him of the start but that 2nd gear of his is short plus he has 2 more cylinders
