My civic vs. Paulo's Audi

Ok, so last night I met with our car club and we were just taking some pictures for a site we are putting together. Anyway, I know this guy in the club that has a 2002 audi a4 1.8t. He bought it used and the only thing he has done other than exterior work is a blow off valve. He bought it used with all of the ext. work done to it. So last night I asked if he wanted to run just for fun since his car has around 170 stock I believe...plus its auto with tiptronic. So we left and get to this backroad thats pretty dead and stop. Third honk we go, I put about 1 1/2 or so cars on him going into second, after that we run till about 80 and he gained nor lost any ground so we just started slowing down. Then, assuming since I had stick I was able to launch better w/e, we decided to go from a roll. We were at 40, third honk again...I put about one car on him up to around 85ish. We ran back to the little meet and he said he's getting intake and a full cat back, then we can run again if I want. So yeah, it was real fun. heres a pic of the car...oh I just have basic bolt ons and a high flow cat..

the audi is very sexy but that model is very heavy putting his power to weight ratio under yours the only thing that kept him from falling back after 85mph is the turbo spooling

The driver in the audi must of been a pretty crappy driver, because my previous car was a 02 civic si ( cdn ) same as ex in the us, and my brother has the VW 1.8t same engine as the audi and theres no way i could beat him. We switched up car with each other and the vw always came on top
The civic stock , even with a i/h/e does not have much hp/ and doesnt have much torque, its a slow car.

the VW1.8t was in what car? If it was in a golf or something...that is alot lighter than the audi, thus the reason for him beating you.

It was a 02 VW jetta 1.8t. They have 180hp , 173 lb-ft torque,
im not a fan at all of vw, i think they suck , but that race was either bs or one bad driver

^^^^ We're talking about an audi...not a jetta...The audi is a lot heavier then the jetta, which is why the civic could pull on it

my friend has a 02 1.8T quattro manual stock and we raced from a stop and i gave him a fender lead and i stilled pulled on him and won by a fender. trust me the audi's are slow. and if anyone calls BS on me i'll gladly ask my friend for the link to his thread on the aui forums because he started the thread after i beat him. and even THE PEOPLE ON AUDI agreed with him that there cars are slower then civic's.

For a stock civic to even come close to th 1.8t jetta the civic would need to be completely gutted, that is if both cars were both stock, and if you consider gutting a mod,,, Im not surprised the civic beat the audi though because 1. if the audi driver is not a good driver.. and 2. the civic weighs much less, and 3 the audi probably had better high end then low

the Audi would destroy the civic in top speed in a highway race though, no question asked.

Your chirping into 3rd? You must be doing something right...a lot of people cant even chirp into second with decent tires, and some rims...

or doing something wrong. hey may be taking too long to shift, leaving the rpms bouncing off the rev limiter and when he drops the hammer in third it chirps because of the excess rpms

I've driven 4 A4's, I have to say there is a big difference between the quatro and 2WD cars, but even the 2WD are not that impressive. IMO
