What do you make of this? (long)

Okay, well I was driving home from a socalrsxforums.com weekly meet and I see two E46 M3's driving sorta next to eachother on a 3-lane road ... it's about 9:45pm and it's pretty empty out. One of them was white, another was black and they both looked stock ... both have someone in the passenger seat.

I wasn't going fast, but I sped up enough to keep up with them ... the white was rocketed past the black one (which didn't seem to be interested) ... so he kinda just slowed down. So... I was bored so I thought I'd mess around a bit.

So we pull up to a stop light and I take off pretty quickly ... I don't launch or screech my tires or anything, just a quick take off to see if the White M3 will do anything. By the way, it looked like some younger guys were in it ... 19-20 year olds.

**flash back ... in my turbo days, I raced a Silver E46 M3 on the freeway twice from 80-120 mph and we were DEAD even**

Okay, well I'm interested in playing around with one just to see how different my K20A was with my D17 turbo.

Basically what ends up happening is that he downshifts (I can't tell if it's auto or manual) and then I downshift into 2nd at 40mph ... even though he's about 1/2 car ahead, I end up pulling about 1 car length ahead by 80. I press on the brakes when it's pretty obvious that he can see my brake lights ... yet he decides to get in front of me (remember, 3-lane empty road) and turns on his hazards ... for a pretty long time. about 10 seconds.

I kinda laughed to myself ... why would he get in front and turn on his hazards if he lost? So anyway, we end up racing again like twice ... same results every time.

I turned onto this hill and he was about to turn into this housing complex ... and I drive past. He then follows me ... when I turn to go down another hill, he follows behind me and then proceeds to shine his brights at me.

Okay, well in my car, I keep a VERY bright halogen spotlight ... 1 million candle power for occasions like this. With him shining his brights as me, I shine my 1 million candle spotlight back at his car into his face. He backs off and then keeps his brights on all the way down the hill (about 1/3 mile) ... I keep my light in his face.

So then we pull onto a straight road and I see the people in the car trying to flag my attention .. I roll my window down and see them all (turns out to be 3 people total in the car) all cursing and me saying stuff like "f*ck you p*ssy, pull over you sh*thead" (and anything else you can think of).

I'm sorry, did I **** you off? YOU shined your brights at ME first. You lost in your M3, not me ...

**flashback... I doubt any of you remember, but I posted a similar thing happened when I had my D17 turbo ... except that time, it turned out to be some **** guy chasing after me in his truck**

yadda yadda yadda no street racing yadda yadda.

it was a rolling race ...

1/4 mile times have a lot more to them than just mashing gas and quick shifting. tire pressure, slicks/dr's, gutting your car, etc has a lot to do with it as well.

Let's also not forget he had 3 people in his car (probably stock), I had just myself. Either way, I pulled 1 1/2 cars on him from 40-85ish on a roll... 3-4 times.

If I recall, my trap speed with stock dc5-r header and stock dc5-r midpipe was 99.6 ... yours is 100.1 ... with my toda header and 2.5" midpipe, I'm sure I will gain more than .5 seconds in trap ;P

oh yeah ... I LOVE my spot light!

Haha, I need to see this light in action. I hate it when kids are like that... they don't even deserve that car: did they work hard for it like other people do? No. Heck, I don't even deserve my civic!

Nice kill. The driver was probably more passive than the passengers and they probably riled him up and made him follow you.

I was thinking of the spotlight/ high beam idea for my brakelight...but I never really went into it. I went more into the massive truck horn venue.

The spotlight is mounted on your rear deck right? Where did you get it/what's the brand? I guess your tint is probably powerless against it.

I don't know what brand it is ... I just picked it up from walmart for $20 ;P

the halogen eats the battery like crazy ... it lasts like 1 hour. But it also has a decently bright LED light that lasts FOREVER ... like 80 hours or something like that.

Nah, it's not mounted ... I don't have a center console right now (B&M shifter is too thick to fit inside the type R shift boot ring, so I took the whole console out) ... so I just leave it inbetween some space where the console would be for easy access.

My tint isn't -that- dark. His brights are dulled a bit as well through my tint... but my spot light still shines through very nicely ;P

I really want to go to Costco and get that 15 million candlepower spotlight they have... bwa ha haha ha hah ha hah ha hah a....

at any rate, great kill and nice to see bimmers put in their place.

if you kept driving their cars would fall apart sooner or later, bmws have serious maintenance issues and my friend makes $160k a year fixing them.

its all the "soccer moms" in their SUV's that dont know how to drive them. i mean if you talk to them they will even tell you that they cant navigate such a big car. but daddy has to have one to make the family complete. and I SWEAR i get cut off on a daily basis by idiots in benz's and beemers that could care less what your doing just as long as they get where they want to be. i almost lost on it a guy the other day he came half way into my lane and swerved back so i gave it a little gas to get past him and he came over into my lane as i was right next to him almost pushing me into another car in the lane next to me. i looked over as i was next to him and he was on the phone not even paying attention to the fact that i was right next to him and he was about to side swipe me. this was on the freeway going 70+mph with my family in the car. this is at least a weekly occurance for me

I completely agree ...

my g/f's mom has a huge suburban and she HATES it. she wants to get a small car, but my gf's dad won't buy anything for her ... (the mom doesn't work much).

it's like ... do people -really- need retardedly big suv's?? ... if everyone in the nation drove hybrids, civics and other gas-saving cars, our demand for gas would be cut by over 50%

gas also seems to be MUCH higher in orange county than other places I've seen ... even LA.

currently, I'm paying:

100 octane @ $7.20/gallon
91 octane @ $2.90/gallon

Orange County sucks!
