Honda Vs Acura
since the coming of the newer models of civics, the older brother of honda has been at my throat down here in VA. acura owners of RSX's and RSX type S are dissin civics left and right. just the other day i heard this guy with a STOCK AUTO RSX talk trash about my 03 vic' and no matter how many bolt ons i get i wouldnt be able to take his STOCK AUTO RSX around a bend or straight away. soooo, even though i know im gonna get my *** handed to me if i tried to race him w/ just a exhaust and intake, what do u think? im getting my tien SS's around Nov. - Dec. im already 3/4th of the way tehre, just 2 more paychecks. but the thing is, on straight aways, i dont think his RSX will take me if i put a lil extra money into it. what do u guys think? 7th gen Auto EX's gotta chance against Auto RSX's?

no way will you win. I have almost $4k in mods in my auto and my bro has a stock rsx auto with subs in the back. His car still feels way faster. There's no comparison. Stock rsx is around 140whp, my modded auto is around 100. and if you're wondering about a stock or close to stock auto vic, forget it.
if you had a ridiculously awesome setup, I'd say yes... but it doesn't seem like it ...
I raced my friend's em2 with a (manual) k20a3 swap, no power steering, aem cai, greddy evo2 exhaust. we were dead even until 60 ... then he pulled 1 car by 90.
This is when I had cf hood, cf trunk, d17a2, ebay cai, rsr ex-mag exhaust, aftermarket midpipe, no power steering, gutted trunk.
if I raced a bone stock auto base rsx, I could've probably have taken it.

those mods wont bring you even close to the WHP of a RSX.... on the twisties w/ good tires and good suspension set-up (granted he's still on stock tires and stock suspension), there is your perhaps only chance.
ehh? stock auto rsx dyno at around 110whp if u have a manual ex u would take auto rsx.
now that I read it over.. you have an auto, so u wouldnt have a chance. sorry to be on the tell you

Yeah i don't understand the some rsx owners. There a lot of people like that on clubrsx. Thats why i stopped going to that website after i got my rsx seats. A rsx is basicallly a civic with a better engine and with different panels. Now the rsx is inferior to the new SI. So now Civic > RSX lol.
But yeah you would lose, unless you race him on a road thats really twisty then it would be more of a drivers race or if you get nitrious.

Yes the car isn't even out yet. But your quoting the car is going to be 25k? Maybe you shouldn't spout misinformation either.
The SI TOV has dyno'ed higher then the stock 05 Type S they had on the same dyno. Most people say that the SI will be price close to 20k, maybe 23-24k with navi. A Type S is 23k. With the SI you get a car thats as fast or faster with the same acura navigation you find on other acura cars. There's no navi for the rsx. Ignoring looks, because looks are subjective. Which car would you get? Which one seem more bang for your buck?
Shawn Church's statement about the dyno's
Indeed. We tested a preproduction 05 RSX that is going to become a magazine tuner car (for another magazine) and it made 190 hub hp (Jeff and Ryan have accurately summed up the TCF and flywheel issues. Sucks that Dynapack still won't fix this, but its the price I pay). The next day we tested the Si and it made as much as 204 hub hp. We know my Dynapack reads about 10 hp higher than the average dynojet, so the 190 hp we got for the 05 matches up well with the 180 whp Jeff got on the Dynojet. Thus, I would expect _this_ particular Si to make no less than 190 whp on a Dynojet and perhaps somewhat more.

Anyways my original statement was to the rsx owners that think there car is so much superior to the civic when it is basically a civic with a better engine. Thats the reason 90% of the parts from a rsx can fit into a civic. A EVO lancer is still a Lancer. A cobra or saleen mustang is still a mustang.
BTW, while shocks will make you car handle better there is alot more to suspension before you car will actually handle "good". The difference in handling between your civic with shocks and a base RSX suspension or even stock civic is all driver. Don't get me wrong there is a difference, but to get to a point where it is noticable on public roads the two of you will have to be driving like complete idiots. So IMO if you really want to see whos car handles better try an autox track, given the same driver skill the civic should be faster around the track.

I would say if that were the case then it would the a DR with a 5spd base rsx. Which would make sense, a 5spd civic would beat a auto rsx (even stock) and a well modded 5spd civic would be a close race with a 5spd base rsx stock. An auto may not beat a mini van
Maybe if it was a manual civic vs auto rsx but you need to have every mod available to beat him. Now its very possible to beat one though with the cam thats out and all the other new internals like cp 11:1 pistons. but just bolt ons no way. Turbo your car or swap it and you can walk on type s all day long

base rsx = slow. Drivers race between civic ex and rsx base with edge to rsx. rsx base is not as quick as the hatchback Si.
Now auto civic has no chance. 4 speed vs 5 speed tiptronic

drivers race? has anyone ever been in an auto rsx? it is waaay faster than any civic, auto or manual. that 30-50whp makes a difference guys (yes assuming civic auto starts at 90whp). if i raced an auto rsx with my auto heavily modded civic, and the rsx shifted around 4k, then i would pull ahead or maybe just break even.

I can walk all over base model rsx's. I have a five speed with I/H/E/CC/Nitrous/and a custom box holding a 12" sub, my 800w amp, and the nitrous in my trunk. I know a guy with an 03 rsx with I/E and I beat him by about a car length. I can also hang with the type s. Being a good driver helps.

has anyone else on here realized that most of the people save for a few...like Gearbox...that say you have to be a good driver...and think that they're a good driver...have only driven a civic or a passenger vehicle...most of you out there need only be in the passenger seat of an Auto-x...rally-car...sprint-car...etc... you will know and see and feel the difference between driving an economy 2 or 4 door car...vs. a car specially tuned and a driver who knows what they're doing...
