Me v.s. C5 Vette, and blown S2k
Here are two different stories...for those of you who don't remember me, I used to post alot a few years ago...anyway, I drive a 98 Neon.....
1) 98 Neon v.s. C5 Vette
I was cruising up Woodward with a buddy, full interior, full exhaust at 16pounds....and came across a C5 Vette Vert, of the 6 speed variety. Older guy, probobly mid/late 40's. We were at a light and I don't think he really noticed that I was there....light goes green, and he comes out of the hole a little agressively, but nothing out of the ordinary. I let out the clutch, and pace him in 1st, dip into the throttle 1/2 way, which burns the tires....shift to second....accelerate with him...by now he's looking over sort of strange....I pace him at about 40mph in third gear. I glance over and see him start to downshift, I drop to second at 40, and procede to incinerate the tires all the way thru second gear, all the while bumper to bumper. I grab third, and instanty put 1/2 to 1 full car on him. We slow down at the next light...I look over, and it's definately on now. Light goes green, he hammers it out of the hole, I let the clutch out normally, put it to the floor, it instantly burns the tires to the revlimiter at 7200 (It actually goes from idle to limiter faster than I can physically shift to second gear) Mash 2nd gear, burn the tires all the way thru second gear, only this time I've pulled 1/2 car on him, then pull another full car or so in 3rd gear.....We call it quits....I catch him at the next red light, and my buddy says "nice car, is it a 6 speed?" He says "yeah, thats the only way to do it" Then he asks "what is *that*?" My buddy says "It's just a Dodge Neon.. 2.0L 4 cylinder..with a little work done to it" "Nice car" says the guy, and then he drops the clutch, and takes off.
2) My buddy has a vortech'd S2k with assorted Comptech goodies. He's dyno'd 305rwhp. I had run him early, before I had a decent street tune (the car has never seen a dyno or wideband) and I was about even with him, but he'd get the edge on me at the higher rpm's because my **** was breaking up...Anyway..I catch him at a light on Woodward, and I know he's going to make a go at it. Light goes green, I let the clutch out like normal, as does he, he jumps on it (and does not spin the tires) I hammer it, and BAM wheelspin to limiter in miliseconds, mash second gear, burn the tires thru second gear. In 1st gear I pulled about 1/2 car, 2nd gear a full car, then in third, another car as I could see him in my rear view.....
Fun times....Now I'll have some fun in my beater 91 EF Hatch with a JDM B16A.....see what sort of stories I can get in the daily driver.. :-)

IMO, a 12 second ride is fast if it can be proven. Anyone can say they have a fast car but can't back it up. I'm not saying it's not true, all I'm saying is that a 12 second ride, be it a civic, or neon or a swift is fast.
