Finally upgraded the fuel system. Mods = t3h win!
Recently I had some head work done. I milled the head, added some Skunk Stage 2 cams, added a 2 layer head gasket & cam gears, Hondata intake manifold gasket, as well as had the ECU retuned. I now have a motor that’s sitting pretty @ 11.8:1 compression!
...Problem was, that even with my 190lph in tank fuel pump my injectors wee reaching 100% duty cycle at 75% throttle! (That’s bad SO, the cure for that was more fuel. In the form of an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and larger injectors. I found a great deal on each and ordered them last week.
I found RC 370 saturated injectors for $300 shipped, w/ the clips
And a B&M (not awesome but it will do the job) FPR WITH gauge for 80 bucks, shipped.
Everything came by Friday and it was all ready.
I finally got a change to put it all in yesterday, and today I got to take it out and test n tune on the street with my laptop and a chip/ROM burner.
After screwing with that for an hour or so, I was able to get it to run decently, with a good idle and no knocking or pinging, all while pulling strong all the way up to my new 9200RPM redline.
Of course to really get power out of the new rig, I’m going to have to take it to get dyno tuned with a wideband by a hondata guru. I have an appointment to do with at Church Engineering up in LA on Tuesday. This guy is the BEST when it comes to tuning these ECUs on these engines. BY FAR.
I expect to see ~200WHP and ~140Ft lbs of torque. All motor of course.
I will then be ready to go back to the Dyno Shop on Aug 20 for the S. Cal Dyno Day (see signature for details). Since that’s where I did my first 170WHP/130Tq run with my stock compression and cams.
Of course even after all this is done IM still not done. I Still need to upgrade my intake manifold and throttle body for better flowing versions. I will also want to upgrade/replace my fan and radiator for better flowing/cooling versions (probably FAL).
And of course the big upgrade is going to be my transmission. Even though by B16 tranny has the same gearing as a USDM ITR, it doesn’t have an LSD and my synchro for 4th and 5th gear and going (again). So I will be replacing it with a brand new 00 ITR tranny (1300 bucks from my friend at a dealership) which I will then put a JDM 4.9 final drive in.
But I digress...
The car pulls exceptionally hard as is. I moved VTEC x-over to 5800RPM, which is perfect for the new set up. Also, 3rd gear runs out a little after I reach 100MPH. So a full 1/4 mile pass should be VERY interesting since my 1-3 gearing is exceptionally short and exactly where my engine/tranny really shines.
I pulled a few runs on the road (nice brand new barely used 6 lane highway in fact). About 4 or 5 times from a stop to a bit above 100MPH. Each and every time it seemed that the century mark came faster and faster. I broke traction a bit on every shift up to 3rd gear too. Of course my tires are in dire need of replacement.
The pull is non stop from as soon as VTEC hits to well past where I was letting off.
And it just keeps ramping up all the way to 9200RPM. It could keep on going if I would let it, I have no doubt. And VTEC sounds WICKED mean now. It’s MUCH deeper and more prominent then before (and it used to scream like a banshee with the intake and just the stock cams!). Boy am I happy with my upgrades at this point!
Next step? REAL tuning.
13s all motor, with a full interior, and street tires, here I come.
edit:
Cliffs Notes: Installed Skunk 2 Stage 2 cams & upped CR to 11.8:1, added more fuel, car pulls very hard to 9200RPM redline. Real dyno/wideband tuning next. Should see 200WHP and 13 second all motor, full interior, street tire'd ETs.

Yea, Im not one to gut my car down to beer can status so I can run .2 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile.
Then again Im not bragging about running low 15s either.

Anyways, Buddy of mine that I work with has a 210 hp All motor hatch he's been building forever. All motor just seems so much faster than turbo cars. I can't wait til he runs it at the track, traction permitting haha.

All motor will never be faster then the turbo cars. Not without a gajillion dollars and race fuel only. Never on a dail driver. Im half wishing I had gone turbo at this point... but thats waiting for my next car. Which will NOT be FWD either.
ANyhoo, Ive made an appointment to have my car dyno tuned tomorrow at 2PM up ion long beach by the famed bubba at do-it-dyno (tuned jojo callos' car as well as a ton of other big name racers). Expect dyno numbers soon.
