It’s pretty funny when you run into someone you had raced at a later date, and they want to run again. Especially if they had gotten new mods since the last time and think they have a better chance this time around.
That exact same situation happened to me the other week. Now both of these incidents occurred before I had done my last batch of mods, so I was running the stock b16 cams at that point, untuned, and putting out 170WHP/130ft lbs of tq.
The car in question is a black 2005 V6 6spd Honda Accord coupe.
A very nice looking car (and fairly quick I might add) indeed. But the owner defiantly needs{ed} his ego to be knocked down a peg, and that’s exactly what I did... twice.
The first time around he looked and sounded absolutely bone stock, minus a lowering job and some limo tint. I was on my way home from class when he pulled up next to me at a light (after I had watched him weave in and out of traffic behind me to catch up next to me). He started revving his engine at the light to let me know he wanted to run since I couldn’t see into his car (WAY illegal front tint there). I was game, and so it was on.
I brought my revs up to 6K and as the light turned green I slipped my clutch out, giving just a tad of wheel spin while keeping my engine in VTEC and therefore in its power band.
I immediately jump about half a car on him, with his front bumper at the rear of my passenger side door. I slam the car into 2nd and continue to pull a bit. By the time I hit 3rd (~65MPH), his front bumper was at my rear bumper. We continued to keep on it till I toped out in 4th gear, a bit past 100 MPH with about a full car length between the two of us.
My turn had come up, so I proceeded to slow down and make a right as he blew on past me.
Flash forward to 2 weeks ago.
I’m on my way home on the same road, when I see a black 05 Accord up ahead in traffic. It’s lowered, with limo tint. As I pass him at normal speed, I look over and see that the front windows are just as tinted as the front. Just then I hear the guy down shift and blow past me.
This time I heard the distinct sound of an intake howling away under the hood.
Alright, I figured. "He thinks his filter on a stick is going to give him enough of an edge to beat me this time. Let’s put his theory to the test..." I think to my self.
I speed up a little to insure that we are lined up at an upcoming light, and prepared my self mentally. You see, over thinking usually leads to blown launches and missed gears. You have to drive like if you are by your self, alone on the road in order to get the best times out of your machine.
We line up one again. I’m watching as the side street turns yellow and then red.
I timed it just right, as I let the clutch out as soon as the light turns from red to green. Once again I get a slight lead on him, this time though it’s slightly larger with his front bumper at my rear. It stays like this through 2nd gear and in 3rd gear a pull SLIGHTLY more on him, leaving a few feet of open air between the two of out cars.
This time the guy didn’t give up so easy. He kept on it way past 115 MPH (the last time I bothered looking at the speedometer). The whole time I was inching away from him as out speed increased.
I felt this was ridiculous so I decided to break off the run. I made sure to get on the brakes before he passed me in order to grantee him seeing that I terminated the race. To my surprise, however he didn’t blow past me. He decelerated behind me and kept back, refusing to pull even with me again all the way to the point where I had to make a turn, lol *****.
Anyway, that’s my story for today. I only wish I get to meet him again after he gets more mods. I’m sure he will be surprised to find out that I’ve since acquired some 30+ WHP. heh.
CLIFFS NOTES: I races a 2005 V6 ^spd Accord Coupe twice. Once when he was stock, and once when he had an intake. I beat him both times by 1+ car lengths at 100+ MPH... from a stop.

they don't make a 5 speed V6 accord to my knowledge.
it's either 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual.
either way, the auto is like a high 14 car, while the 6 speed is about a mid 14. good kills if you're taking down those cars.

my bad 6sp accord.
And unless you are talking about ride quality or interior room, no.
Best time before the latest modifications was a 14.4@98mph.
13s should be cake now given traction.

no i was talking about hp with you and the accord. the v6 accord thats a 6spd should have roughly 220 hp to the wheels. if your car had 200 to the wheels then your car must be light as all hell. i know accords are heavy but man, im not doubting you did it, im just not understanding how you could walk a v6 stick accord. i know weight has alot to do with it, and drivers. so yeah help me out a little. thanx

If you can pull on a V6 accord your doing pretty good considering weight of your si(and untuned). Have you raced an S2k on highway yet? I wonder what the results will be. I ran against a 05 v6 at the strip he ran a respectable 14.5 to my 14.3.

Those new accords are a damn good race. I raced one (5spd 4door) getting on the freeway. We were dead even til 90, than I pulled a car on him in the higher gears, from 3-4 I pulled a car-car and a half on him.. Turbo boost kills in the high end it seems. The modded type-s' I raced lost around 100 as well.
Those accords are quite fast though. I kill B18/B16 civics that are basically stock. He musta been a *****y driver, or you are a very very good driver.
Nice kill though.
