How fast are these cars?
My friend has a Laser, which is the same thing as a 1st gen talon tsi. He was runnin 18psi on race gas running 14.00. Those cars can't hook for Sh*t in first gear and 2nd if they are modded. The stock cobalt should be no problem if it runs 14.9 stock and you're close to low 14s.
Mainly.....it all depends on if they can hook up. My dad's friends camero is badass and tuned out the ***. He can only run 14.00 high 13s cause it won't hook up. When i say modded, i mean, headers, intake manifold, port & polish, ignition, cam, reinforced tranny. So just be smart like others have said.

Well said! I agree. Good luc

goodluck and drive safe. btw, if their just cocky @sses, dont bother with those kind of drivers. i hope you know these people and will be a friendly run instead of the import vs domestic local battles. if you are... your getting involved with the wrong crowd

First i am trying the talon hopefully next week i am thinking of upgrading my fuel system to return fuel system and some rc 440's hopefully with the return system i can put so more power to the ground
I'm sure you'll get completly walked by the Ls1. Some bone stock ls1's have hit 13.1's or a little lower. With the mods he has and saying he can drive then I would'nt be suprised that he's in the high 12's now. I don't know what year Vette's you raced but maybe on of those had a Ls1 in it so the outcome would be similar to that with the z28.

well keep in mind your car will be just as affected if not more by the weather.
if it slows an LS1 by almost a full second in the 1/4 mile, the same, if not worse will happen to you.

welcome to 4 weeks ago. did you find Noah's Ark too?
and roasted? lol. a 10psi 7th gen won't have a problem beating the AWD talon unless the talon has a few mods. the talon runs about 15.0 stock.

Um, most of the time that automatics are used in drag cars they're used not because the 'throttle body stays open' (??) but because they can simply shift faster than a human being conceivably can.
Barring that, one finds, below built auto-trannys, synchro-less manual transmissions abound.

auto turbo civic < manual turbo civic
not to mention your whole turbo lag argument.... when you shift a manual car and have your foot off the gas for a split second, the impeller (turbo) doesn't just slow down magically. it continues to spin. so, there is no turbo lag when you shift a manual transmission car.
and program shift points according to the dyno? you don't shift on a dyno.... and when you tune, you're tuning for an rpm range, irregardless of what gear you're in. tuning on the dyno has NOTHING to do with shift points or auto/manual transmissions...
who told you all this crap?

Well, some of us are auto and we'd like to fool with them, so not everyone can be a hater. I'd like to sell my car sometime so no swaping with me. Plus now I can drive, talk on my phone, eat cheeseburgers and take pictures of ricers with my camera lol =)

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle

I haven't heard I G.I.Joe qoute in a while..
You just have to practice hooking up the tires.. I used to spend a hour a week from light to light doing nothing but launching as fast as possible.. and then an hour or 4 shifting as fast as possible.. Practice and knowledge baby!

ROFLMAO. an LS1 F body 6 spd can hit 12s, stock.
seriously though, you have an aftermarket turbo and you list beating a V6 mustang and a sentra in your signature?

Be careful of the talon...my buddy has one, he says his is stock too...some people actually fall for it...they dont see the huge front mount, monster exhaust, let alone the friggin monster green under the hood!!!!!!
