raced an LS1 trans am!

I was pulling out of good old burger king today and saw a guy in a black trans am go by. He kinda stared my car down as he went by, then revved up his american muscle as he passed.

I pulled out shortly after, and was able to catch up to him eventually. I was behind him and he turned right onto a road that went 2 lanes to 1. I just stayed behind him as it goes to 1 lane right away, and not enough time for anything. He sped up and I stuck right behind him.

The first 2 lights stayed green, but the 3rd light was the charm. I got into the lane next to him and just waited. I was unsure of what to launch at as I have not had much practice, so I decided 4000rpm would be a good try.

He started revving his trans am, so I revved to 4 grand and waited. Wait, wait, green! Light turned and I nailed the launch. 1st gear was gone in a second. (damn these gears chew through the rpms quick) From the launch and 1st gear we were a bit even, but I pulled on him slightly. (i dont think he got as good a launch as me) 2nd gear I actually pulled about another 2 feet on him. 3rd gear and he pulled about a foot on me, ever so slowly. I decided to shut down as I was not willing to go any faster on this particular road.

He never even looked over, just turned off right away and left.

The race was fairly even, and certainly not a kill. He was pulling very slightly when I shut down at the end of 3rd gear.

Nice run! Be interesting once the gears are broken in and you get used to how your car responds.

Good run... do you think it would have been a little different with the original gears as opposed to the 4.57 you have now?

Stock S2k's average 202whp. Some get as high as 208, some as low as 192.

Is the LS1 in the WS6? hopefully because my friend zach with his srt4 (that was in the video racing the tc) ran a trans am with 3 of us in the car and got about 1 car on him from 40 to
80. I don't know what the regular V8 trans ams are running....
Those gears must be nice, I need some for my car, they don't make them for 02 LX's I'm assuming

LS1 is the 5.7L V8 used in the Camaro Z28&SS/Firebird Formula&Trans Am (WS6 too) from 1998 to 2002. The same engine was in the 1997-2004 Corvettes.

The engine puts down anywhere between 280rwhp and 330rwhp 100% bone stock.

Not straight on the market hey don't make final drive (is that all you changed s2kman?) kits, or entire gear kits, but with enough money anything can be custom made for you.

To put a car on an LS1 powered WS6 (all V8 firebirds and camaros from 1998+ are LS1) that srt4 better have a LOT done to it. Especially with 4 people in the car. A stock LS1 would walk a stock or near stock SRT4 neon like a dog.

And what PSI did he set his boost to? I'm hoping at LEAST 19 to pull 1 car on an LS1 powered vehicle from 40-80 with 4 people in the car.

Then again this coming from someone who thinks the SRT4 needs a "not so great" driver to lose to a great driver in an S2k....

Yeah that's close enough it's possible. The faster car didn't win, but I'm not saying it didn't happen.

Tanks? They're long, but not tremendously heavy. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, 1/4 in high 12's to low 13's. Good job hangin with the guy, I think that 4k rpm launch helped a lot.
