modded lx and ex
i really think that modded 7th gen lx's are faster then the ex when modded especially when u replace the header on the lx seing as how as u get rid of the cat on the lx but if im not mistaking u dont get rid of the cat on the ex because its located further down the piping therefore u should be getting more performance from the lx motor which starts out with only 8whp more in man trans and 2whp less in the auto tranny then the lx and the lx gains more torque then the ex with mods, i have ran countless ex's new and old with my lx i/h/e and have yet to lose to one... has anyone dynoed there vic's? or ran modded ex vs modded lx
yeah its a good hmmmm question it just seems like everyone on here is EX EX EX and left the LX out in the breeze which i think might have more potential, i deffinatly admit that when i just had intake it felt slow as ****
nah u cant really compare the weights of the two cars. the lx isnt light enough to make a difference. the drivers weight could make up for it. so i'm curious, r u saying that u have an EX, I/H/E vs a LX I/H/E....that the lx is quicker?

By what? 40 lbs ? That's the difference that can be easily made up by a stack of books or a heavier driver.
If you're going to say one's faster, then we'll need proof from something other than an AEM-sponsored dyno chart, which is designed to sell intakes. They don't really care about finding a good stock dyno, just one that shows the biggest gain using their product.
Granted, 13 HP isn't that much of a difference... but when you consider the slightly larger final drive ( 4.41 to 4.11 ) and slightly higher compression (9.9 vs. 9.5), the EX just turns out to be a SLIGHTLY better platform to work with. I'm not hating on the LX guys, but when comparing the differences between 2 nearly identical cars, every little bit is the difference.
yeah they do also have diffrent gearing because when i raced the last one he shifted into fourth when i was still in third and i gained on him because of that my third goes to about 94 i dont know about the EXs

With his shorter gearing (designed for better accleration), he should have pulled on you sufficiently in 1st and 2nd to cover the little bit of ground you gain at the very end of 3rd.
Things happen, and sometimes a stock LX will win over a stock EX, but it's usually the EX winning 70% of the time.

Last night I ran a 99 ex and a 05 ex, both with i/h/e and mt. I beat both by at least a car and a half so I think I'm gonna have to just chalk this this one up to good driving for now because no one is backin me up.
well good kills man, i'm not gonna deny u that. do u know it was I/H/E? or was it just a muffler on them? yur sure they were m/t? cuz i have every confidence in u that u would walk all over an auto.

Your dynos shows the advatange to the EX.
Does the LX have more power than the EX in the lower RPMS?
The final drive is shorter on the EX, but by how much I'm not sure.

I know the kids, and yes they have intake, header, and exhaust, and are both manual. I raced a auto once and I didn't even think he was going, but he pulled back next to me and was like, man that's prety quick I need to get rid of my auto

You have an auto...?
Either these guys are horrible drivers or there is SOMETHING wrong here... right now with all you've said, I'm doubting your credibility.
Is there someone that can make sense of this? Because it seems to be like this kid is talking about some things that just don't make sense.

Well SURE, if he's spraying you can bet he's beating these other cars that only have I/H/E, but then he can't be saying that "an lx is faster than an ex", because he's comparing a spraying lx with IHE to a regular ex with IHE.

is it that hard to realize that he's saying he thinks his LX IHE setup gives him more power than an EX IHE because his has no cat? - even tho plenty of EX owners have taken off their cats aswell..
so the real question is... is the LX faster w/ IHE (catless) than an EX IHE (with cat)

It's INCREDIBLY illegal to take off your cat, that's like a standard $500 fine. A hi flow cat isn't going to hurt a car much anyways... sorry, the ex is still > lx....
