Hey I want to Kill a WRX
okay so heres the situation..dont flame and grill and all the other cooking methods plz...my filthy rich best friend (his parents own the entire Tara Thai chain in MD and VA)parents just got him a WRX after demolishing his civic and I'm curious because..well..*my manlihood* is challenged now that he has a WRX 
so what would it take?.. i have an 01 ex manual sedan..and I'm thinking of a Dezod soon.. would that keep me on the line of beating him one day?

Get him in to some tight turns.... if its stock, with stock tires... you should eat him up. (Assuming of course that you arnt on stock tires) 
I've beaten many-a-WRX through the turns... Problem is if there are enough longer straights The WRX can make up for what ever it loses in the turns. So the Key is Many Tightly spaced Relitivly tight turns.

Rep Power: 0 Why are you so threatened by his car, just let him screw it up like he did to the Civic. Just let him jump onto all the bandwagons he wants, next thing you know, he'll wanna drift. I've had 4 Hondas and plan on some more. :-)
i hope u are talking about the WRX 227hp, not the WRX STI. The STI is at 300hp stock!!!
I don't think a civic is anywhere near it.

Talk to the guys who actually race them.... The car is Under tired, over weight and Under sprung/dampened....Stock they suck *** through the turns. (Just like a stock civic isnt all that great) They understeer just as much as a civic. Truth be told, the only time AWD is great for the corners, is when its wet out. The only real redeaming feature of them is that they have enough power to make up for what they lose in the turns on the straights... Thats why I say get him on a road with Few straights and a lot of tight turns and you'll stand a good chance at beating him.
Just for an example as to what I'm talking about... here are the results of the 2004 Atwater Pro solo .. In STX, a class primairly dominated by WRX's, a Meak STS preped 1989 Civic Si, beat them all. (not to mention he beat a bunch of BMW's too...)
This isnt to say WRX's arnt good cars, but rather to Point out that AWD can be as much a liablity as it can be a boon..

Rep Power: 344 OK....my wife has WRX...and I dont like to admit it but she beat the living $hit out of my 7thgen....If you really want to have a good change do a K20 swap and much suspension work and yes you might have that good chance.....But hey....all cars have potential it's what you do to the car....so....But i admit once I leave Hawaii I am going to get an STI or a S4 when i leave.....
Come up with something new. That was like 3 years ago. 
If he is young give it some time before he crashes. Is it sti or normal wrx? If its normal just talk **** ask him why he bought the cheap one instead of the turbo Wrx sti with 300 hp zero to sixty in under five. That should hurt his feelings.

The only one that I raced I beat by 2 cars by 90 (in a 50) had another member in the car with me and neither of us know wtf was going on with that BS. I bet the next time that I see him he will ask to race for $ LOL

Probably not going to happen unless you are running somewhere around 7-9psi. I know from experience with my races with boosted SOHC civics.
