smoked an "Evo"...

i hate posers........the weather was actually pretty decent last night, so i hit up a local drive-thru car wash, and then went to dry it off with the preferred method of going as fast as possible and blowing all the water droplets off ...after a few minutes, i end up at a red light next to a nice blue Lancer Evo...he had an Evo-style CF hood, shaved door handles, limo-tinted windows, and all that good $hit...very attention-grabbing without being ricy...he must have caught me staring, because he starts revving and inching up to the line...i lean over to check out his side skirts, etc. when his big *** rims caught my attention...they must have been 19"s because his car didn't look much lower than stock, but he was tucking in the rear...they were chrome and looked like they weighed about 50 pounds each...and that's when i noticed the drum brakes peeking out from behind the wheel...and last time i checked, Evos had some nice Brembo discs on all 4 corners...

i know the question has been asked a million times, but i have to ask again: WHY!?!?!?!?

this dude dumped a few thousand dollars into his Lancer trying to make it look like an Evo (even had the nice little Evolution badge on the trunk) when he could have saved up a little, then actually bought one...

anyway, my car is lowered about 2.5" and rolling on 215/35ZR18s, and i have an OEM-style CF hood...the previously-cool-but-really-a-whack-***-ricer apparently takes this as indication that my car is fast, so as the turn light for oncoming traffic turns yellow, he revs and holds at about 4k RPM...in a few seconds the light turns green, and we took off...or rather, I took off...his lame-*** Lancer ES got smoked by a 90% stock AUTOMATIC SEDAN...i had quite a few cars on him by the time my car shifted into 3rd at around 64 mph, but since we were in a 45 mph zone, i went ahead and shut down...my car is COMPLETELY stripped (no passenger/rear seat, glove compartment, center console, trunk lining, carpet, factory sound deadening, etc) as the first step to a new system rebuild that i'm procrastinating on getting started, so i have quite a bit of weight shaved off, but for as fast he thought he was, this car got majorly embarassed...my only engine mod is an Injen SRI with stock headers/exhaust, so as he eventually rolls up to the next red light, i start revving to show him there's no turbo, catback, or anything like that...he didn't look once, and eventually just turned right from the center lane, presumably to go home and cry...

i hate posers...

es cost 13k, evo cost 30k, when did 17k become "just a little"?

Do you know how much the es weights? Do you know how fast it is? So he revved, big deal. There slow, yes slower than your gutted civic. You've beat a car you should beat even w/ full interior. Im sorry but with a gutted cabinet and intake, that's not 90% stock. If that's the case what's 89% stock? or 91% stock?

NTL, good kill.

alright, so maybe "just a little" was an understatement...i figured with the paint job, the hood, the body kit, the exhaust, the shaved handles, the rims, and all that good $hit that he would have carried that over into the interior and had a decent system, seats, etc...i have a few thousand dollars tied up in just the trunk work alone, and my car is nowhere near as "show-quality" as his appeared to be from the outside...so i figured that he was not too lacking in the money department, anyway...

anyway, the point was that he revved and rolled up to the line, whether it was because he thought he would win, or he thought i would back down from his "Evo", or he had a muscle spasm in his right leg as his left foot slipped off the clutch, or whatever...so we ran, and he lost...

and i knew i was going to stomp his a$$, that's the only reason i ran him...a friend has an '02 ES with an SRI, and even with a complete interior, a few hundred pounds of stereo weight, a full-size spare, the stock airbox, and all that good $hit, i still beat her, whether from a roll, a stop, or whatever...

the moral of this story is that if you know you're slow, you're not going to impress anybody by getting your a$$ handed to you in a race...when somebody revs on me, and it's blatantly obvious that i'm going to get owned, i just smile and turn up the system...i get just as much satisfaction out of knowing that they're going to be listening to MY music while they're at the light as they do knowing that they're going to beat my a$$ when the light turns green...

anyway, this was not supposed to be the greatest story in the forum (S2000man01 has credit for most of those ) , it was just my run-in with a car that got the spankin' it deserved...but thanks for all the comments!

yeh i hate posers also, but the ones you really gotta look out for especially here in the chicago area are some of the Evo's running no or regular lancer spoilers, these evo's are running 11's and lower and they almost look like ricey lancers and you'll get your *** handed to you

haha...that would suck much...in '03 i was chilling at a red light in Monterey, CA, in a friends BMW Z3 when an Eagle Talon rolled up and revved on me...the guy looked completely stock, right down to the 15" hubcaps...the dude even had a pair of baby seats in the back...i was like "alright, why the hell not" and revved back...the only thing i managed to even catch a glimpse of besides his taillights as he beat my a$$ was what looked like a parachute (like the ones on Top Fuel dragsters)...i don't know what he was running to require a parachute, but after that i learned the meaning of "sleeper" and picked my races a little more carefully...

'cause if you have a Ralliart like your profile says, you'd probably beat my a$$...haha...i hear the Ralliart's are quite a bit quicker than the regular Lancers...and since they're the newer body styles, they damn sure look alot better...i appreciate the invitation though ...
