Rep Power: 0 stock vs. stock?
well if that's the case, stang... wrx dynos only 170whp. From a dig, it'll get a good car lead, but the stang should over take him w/ no prob. From a roll, it's all stang.

Rep Power: 376 from a roll or dig, the mustang is the faster car stock vs stock.
unfortunately you gave us no information on mods.
from a roll, the wrx has no chance.
and yeah, threads like this are kinda dumb. it's like "guess what number I'm thinking". the hardest part is finding someone who cares. i'd suggest revealing the winner so your thread doesn't get locked....

Rep Power: 0 From a roll, Stang, no doubt at all, the only reasons WRXs have 1/4mi. times as low as they do is because they have the benefeit of AWD from a dead stop whereas FWD/RWD cars get more wheelspin. A stock WRX has substanial drivetrain loss from having to make all those 4 wheels turn.

Rep Power: 0 like every one said the WRX wouldn't stand a chance from a rolling start stock for stock. hell, with a decent driver the wrx shouldnt get that big of a jump on the launch either. RWD is for the most part jsut as good as AWD. it's just easier for most people to do good in AWD.

Rep Power: 376 from a stop, stock for stock, taking the better times for both cars, the stand still has almost a half second on the wrx. 14.1 < 13.7

Rep Power: 0 sorry to mention that guys, theyre both stock
but since i have 15 posts like i asked, ill reveal the winner
we started at around 25mph or so. i was off the gas(Mustang) when my buddy in the WRX went. obviously he pulled on me at first cause he went first. i think he had it in first to start the race, i however was in 2nd gear. by the time my Stang started to Gallop, the lil WRX had a bout a 1 car length lead. i pulled all through 2nd gear, while he had to shift from 1st to 2nd. i shifted to third when i had about a 1/2 car on him. I cracked 3rd, then 4th, and was still pullin. I dont have the car very long, and with a long reach to 5th, i missed 5th. at this time i had a good 2 1/2 cars on him. if anyone knows anything about a Mustang, they know that 5th is a very DEEP overdrive(im at ~2800prm @ 90) so between the missed shift and losing all my power in 5th, he just putted right by me.
depending on how you look at it, you could come out with a different winner. we never decided where the finnish was. so we just went till we were flying and then shut 'em down. you could say i won, with such a big lead, or that he won, cause he passed me in the end.

Rep Power: 0 I'm asuming you have a GT. If so, what year? The junk box GT body style from 94-98 (not the 5.0L that the 94 and I believe 95 still had) would not pull away like that from a WRX stock to stock. The newer ones MIGHT. No doubt that the newer ones pull from a stock WRX but not like you stated. I have raced both body style GT's in my WRX and the outcome was not as you described it. Keep in mind that it wasn't just one race of each. I've raced quite a few of both body styles. From a roll, yes the newer GT's slowly pull away from me but not until about 90-100mph. The older ones however do NOT walk away from me. I've beaten almost all of the ones that I have raced to about 120mph. The one and only exception stuck with me, dead even, up to about 110mph. These were just my experiences with some stangs. Who knows, maybe the 12 times that I have raced them, they were all crappy drivers. Very doubtful though.

Rep Power: 0 Slammed, yeah, i have the New Edge style, '02 GT. I think I have to race him again, from a dead stop.
By "walk away" i mean that it was like i was passing someone on the interstate doing about 3-5 mph slower than me. not real fast, but fast enough that i wasnt beside him for a long distance.
Ill have to be more observant next time.
I also want to race my other buddy's Evo, after it gets out of the shop for a bad tranny.

Rep Power: 261 From a dig in the 1/4, it's a driver's race totally. Both average in the low 14's stock, but having seen several stock GT's run low 14's myself and having seen many stock WRX's run mid 14's- low 15's and modded ones run low 14's, I'd give the advantage to the Mustang, 99-04 of course. The older GT's should lose, and stock vs. stock, with equal drivers, the '05 GT vs. WRX would be a massacre. Also, given that the 99-04 GT has ~40whp/~80wtq more than the WRX, it's power easily overcomes it's heft, and SHOULD walk away from a WRX from a roll. Also, the GT traps much higher on average than the WRX does.

Rep Power: 0 Where are you getting your stats about Evo's not having good top end stock?? They have great top end actually. Oh and the Evo is WORLDS faster than a regular WRX. Not a tad. An Evo and an 04 STi are about equal with the STi barely edging the Evo out. The 05 STi's are tad slower for some weird reason though and the Evo slowly works one. An Evo will walk a newer GT from a roll and a dig. I've been in my buddies Evo countless number of times racing newer GT's. Same result everytime. Evo walks away slowly and keeps walking. From a roll that is. From a dig it's not even a close race. Just for the record........A well driven Evo will break high 12's all day long in the 1/4.
