Exclamation Ralliart vs. 7thgen Ex Coupe

Ralliart - stock
Ex Coupe - Exhaust/Intake

Saturday night I was on my way to get something to eat, when I heard a loud exhaust comming from behind, I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a 7thgen w/ HIDS. The stop light was comming up and it was 3 lanes and I was in the middle, the 7thgen was on my right, on my left was a brand new mazda 3 (which I killed earlier and killed again after). The guy in the ex started rolling back and forth but I didnt wanna look, he revved @ me so I looked over @ his car and he looked @ me, than revved again (finally got my attention), I thought... what the hell

I didn't rev, i just keep my revs steady @ 2500rpms, than the mazda3 reved and kinda took me off guard, which I dropped my revs, got em back up to atleast 2800rpms and that's when the light turned green. I slipped my clutch and by mid 2nd, had a car + on the 7thgen, put it in 3rd and half way thru it had a lil over 2 cars on him. I wasnt paying attention to the mazda but he looked about a lil over a car behind me. Before I can even get into 4th, the light turned... yellow ... red... and we all slammed on our brakes. The guy in the 7thgen gave me a thumbs up, but the mazda guy wouldnt look my way, lol. I wanted to go again against the civic but he got stuck behind a car that made a quick right into his lane, which he had to slam on his brakes again.

Anyways, I beat that mazda3 @ 2 more lights later .

you have the 160 hp Ralliart?

Civic EX coupe with intake exhaust its still pretty much 127hp maybe even less.

Was the civic a quick car for its Horsepower?

Yeah, about 160ish whp and 150ish wtq. Ya have to take into consideration i'm lighter and w/ hella close gears (5 speed w/ revoSS)

Ralliart has close gear ratio aswell, 1st gear is useless, torque throws you in the seat, than torque steer & than you have to shift into 2nd in about 2seconds. The torque throws u in the seat again and your getting torque steer aswell, and than gotta shift into 3rd etc. Yes, you're lighter than me, let me throw on I/E... i bet it'll be closer than you think.

RA w/ intake have ran 15flat, and with I/E have ran 14.9-15.0. Ive only raced 2 (stock) specV and only beat em buy a 1/4th of a car length. I havent been to the track, but had a friend clock me w/ his stop watch @ 15.2, the slowest was around 15.4.

Dude, I came from a lancer oz (120hp/130trq) and it's like night and day, the RA just has torque and power all over the powerband... MIVEC is incrediable after 3500rpms.

Ok, I took 2 videos, but the quality is *** poor, lol. I record w/ my video camera and than off of that, I record it w/ my digicam and it came out very blurry, the reason I did it that way is because I can't find the upload plugs for it, but I have my USB cable for my digi cam. I'll try to get some better vids tommorow (in daylight)

My cousing was holding the camera, and as you can see the shift - torque kept making him pan away.

I tested both and bought the RA. Felt the specV was a tad quick because of the LSD, but the interior/exterior was soooo dam boaring. Also, the RA is new... nobody knows much about them or seen that, makes me rare. As of now, im yet to lose to (stock) specV and I wanna keep that record.

I've seen a few RAs around here, they seem like good cars and the engines in them are pretty good too, they don't have the LSD of a SpecV but they also don't have the clunky poorly-paired 6spd the SpecV has either.

My only problem w. the RA is Mitsubishi's present financial troubles and them possible pulling out of NA if things get worse. Not having a dealer network for your car makes a brand new RA an orphan.

Except a Spec-V is 6-speed only while an SE-R is auto only.

Modded a bit a Ralliart is competition to the RSX-S. Stock they are mid-15 sec cars, when i had the k20a3 & 5-speed tranny in my RSX i was dead even w/ one up to 80 or so.

I know the difference between a specV and SE-R. I toast SE-R's, specV (stock vs. stock) it's all a drivers race.

Like you, and some others... yall see this (crank)

SPECV: 175hp / 180trq
RALLIART: 162hp / 162trq

This is what yall don't see (whp)

SPECV: 143hp / 150trq
RALLIART: 146hp / 149trq

Like I said, driver race.

When I had my Mazdaspeed Protege, I killed several ralliart lancers. They're not really that great to me, but hey if you like it that's cool.

They were never a challenge for the MSP though. The OZ lancers were the worst though. Those guys have no business trying. I have a feeling alot of people didn't know what a MSP is.

A turbo car vs. a N/A car... if your boosted, you better win. How about taking a shot @ the other factory turbo lancer? Im pretty sure w/ out needing 4th gear I could take a MSP.
