Boosted ZX3 owned on Turkey Day :)
Boosted ZX3 owned on Turkey Day :)
I know I might hear a bunch of crap about this but I dont care. I'm on my way to my grandparents house in Cocoa, FL and I'm on one of the toll ways east of Orlando and I'm waiting in line to make it to the toll booth. In the next lane over I see a ZX3 with some gauges on his A-pillar so I'm thinking cool, let me get up here to the booth. So I finally get out of the booth and he's way ahead with traffic in the way and everything. I finally get near him and he sees me coming up from behinds he punches it. At that very moment we were doign right around 80+ mph. I'm actually suprised because he had a stock exhaust and I could tell that the guy actually had some power by the way he was moving forward. I start sprayin and I start pullin and I get right on his *** even though hes moving fast. Right now we're well over 100 but we had to slow down because of traffic...after we pass a few cars the left lane opens up, so he punches it and so do I. I'm suprised thinking man this guy has some power, what does he have? I'm right behind him because there are still a few cars in the right hand lane then he moves over to the right hand lane and I begin pullin away from him steadily up to about 140mph by the time I was done. For those who are wondering, yes I sprayed in 5th, yes I've done it before and yes I realize its not a good thing but it was worth it taking out that boosted ZX3. I was like YESSSSS! It was funny too because I seriously didnt think he was boosted until I saw his front mount. If I had known he was boosted I wouldnt have bothered because I know what turbos are capable of at top end. I know the owner had to have been sooo pissed.

damn...for some reason i was thinking of a BMW Z3 instead of a Fucus ZX3...a boosted Z3 would probably be pretty damn quick...anyway, good kill...

Ya know thats interesting for you to say that because its not the first time I have heard that before. I have to say you are wrong though. I have an 01' and I'm not sure if that matters but my car does NOT seem to be governed. There seems to be no fuel cut. And like I said in my previous statement. Its not the first time I've sprayed in 5th so therefore its not the first time I've hit speeds that high. Even all motor I can still reach speeds of over 120+ mph. Can anyone back me up on this?
Ok I'm going to chime in again. Before my WRX, I too had an 01 EX coupe. They are in fact governed. I hit it more than once in my car. I believe it is somewhere around 127 mph. Oh well what would I know anyway. I've only had my head under the hood of cars for the past 8 years.

as for being goverened...i don't post much, but i read almost every post in most of these forums, and it seems to me that some of the 7thgen 'Vics are governed, and some aren't...or maybe none are, and all the liars just stick together...

... Right now I'm rollin on 205/40/17s which probably would make me speedo a little inaccurate. Who knows maybe he is right, but if he is correct, then that would mean that my speedo would have to be more than 13+ mph off and that just doesnt seem right. My wheels and tires shouldnt be making my speedo that far off.

I'm not sure on the "governed" limit of the civic, but it wouldn't surprise me if the civic wasn't actually governed at all. Honda tends to "say" their cars are governed at a certain speed, yet they actually aren't. The S2000 for example, honda says is limited to 150mph. I've had mine to 163, and a couple have topped out 6th gear at 170mph.
So what we really need is video of someone breaking the 127mph barrier, because that would be all the proof you need. And I do remember some people being able to go beyond 127mph in their EX, so it's possible not all civics were governed.

Well I'm going out tonight with my buddy in his 02 EX coupe 5spd. I'll post again tonight after we do a top speed run. When I had my 01 EX cpe 5spd, I tried numerous times to get it up to 130mph and it just didn't happen. Let me remind you that this has to be done on a flat surface and not down any sort of hills in order for it to be acurate.
