Pesky mustystang gt
I was coming home from work one evening going down a hwy with hardly any traffic. I was cruising in 6th at around 80mph right at 4000 rpms. You know how it is, your in the fast lane a car comes up, you move to the slower lane and pass it to get right back in the fast lane. I did this a few times no problem. Well I came up on this 2002 or so Gt and was moving over into the slow lane to pass when I hear him drop a gear and start to take off. I drop mine as quick as I can into fouth and floor the throttle. He got the jump on me because he dropped sooner, but when I hit 5800 on the tach and got in my power band I started reeling him in. I ended up passing him , jumping in front and didn't stop till I was a good three lengths in front. I slowed down, caught up next to him and he wouldn't even look over. It was great. I only have an AEM CAI, royal purple 5w30 oil, royal purple 10w40 in my transfer case, and I ride on stock wheels with yoko avs es100 225/50's.

an RSX-S taking a mustang GT at freeway speeds? yeah i guess i can believe that. though the way you reeled him in, it was probably an auto.
I hope you don't drive a civic because there is two things in this story that I don't believe. One, you said 6th gear. Two, if in fact you drive a civic, that GT would smoke you no matter what gear you downshifted to. Personally I have run into a few newer GT's in my WRX. Out of the hole it's not even a race but up top they out run me. Last time I checked, which was only a couple of days ago, I'm a good football field ahead of my buddies 2k2 Civic EX at about 100mph. In closing, if I can't out run a GT in my car, then your civic is no match. Thank you drive through.
yeah, this guy has an rsx-s (which he wants to get rid of for an civic hx
) you wont be doing anything like that if you plan to lose the rsx!
i bet it feels good to kill a mustang v8 with a powerplant half its size.

It was probably auto and that would be within the realm of possibility for a lightly modded Type-S to win, but I'd say it's even MORE likely that it was a manual and he put it in the wrong gear. Stock for stock, a 99+ GT will walk a Type-S even from a roll. Even the people on Club RSX will tell you that. The GT has ~230whp/270wtq stock (manual) and even though it's heavier, will still trap several mph higher than a stock Type-S. A well driven GT will run ~13.8. A well driven RSX runs ~14.8.

and I almost smoke a 350(light mods) but a GT (med mods) manual owned me about a car length... so unless you are boosted K20 then I would believe you 100%, nice kill if it's really true

I thought 350z was much faster than a stang.
Maybe the GT has good launches since it has a solid beam type rear type suspension.

A 350Z and S2000 are almost identical in the 1/4 mile. The GT is just slightly slower and at the disadvantage in the 1/4 mile.
Actually, the S2000 has the best advantage in the 1/4 mile of the 3. Against the GT the S2000 pulls hard once it hits 2nd gear or so, and against the 350Z believe it or not, the advantage goes to the S2000 in a 0-60 dig, due to the 350Z's gearing. The 350Z starts to catch up, and should end up almost even by the end of the 1/4 mile.
And yes i'm talking from probably hundreds of races of my own experience, not to mention what everyone else has done.

a 350Z and S2000 is a driver's race. but the GT is at a very slight disadvantage.
my friends with their GT's tell me they are usually looking for something to throw out their window at me at half track, because i just keep pulling on them and pass them by the end of the 1/4 mile. believe me. anything above 45mph and the S2000 pulls on a GT all day long.

no he probably raced an auto GT. an auto mustang GT (you have a manual listed there) is like a mid 14 second car.
an RSX-S would walk a V6 mustang fairly easily

From my experiences I'm in sort of the middle of the drivers race food chain...
I've put a couple car lengths on a 99+ GT (might have been auto, I'm not sure, I couldn't hear a damn thing) from a stop till about the top of 3rd (90, shut it down). Also pulled past a 99+ GT (stick w/ exhaust) from a 2nd gear roll (40mph) till about 110, I was about 2 lengths ahead.
The 350z on the other hand...pretty god damn even to about 120, I got the jump from both a roll and stop.
A S2000 - got the jump both on a roll and a stop, but the guy couldn't drive worth poo and he had alot of mods even a damn rollbar. I don't even remember how many lengths I put on him, I think he quit after like 65 or so....whatever though.

is the 2004 a drivers race or 2005? I guess the 2005 has got an upperhand.
