Chalk another one up to the little guy.
Surpised a few people tonight with this upset. In fairness the guy with the 3000 said his clutch was messed up. Why did he agree to race then?
I told him I'll give him another shot when it's fixed.
I beat the SI the first time by a car. Second time i got him off the line(Even with a crappy launch*) but he caught me around 85 and pulled a car till I shut down at 115. At the track I would have crossed the line before he caught me, so I say I won that one too. We agreed to meet up at the track sometime so we can settle it.
The track will only tell.
*Not to make excuses, but the second race we didn't have a starter and I had to honk. I didn't build my rpms enough. I can't honk and launch.
Oh neither were stock
04 SI
Aem V2
Exhaust
Neuspeed SS
3000 GT
Brand new motor, said it came with 220hp stock?
Injen Intake
Exhaust
Let the Flaming Begin!!!!

Well the hp numbers say the Si should win, but looking at the vp mods it's posible. You did everything right with light weight rims, some boltons (which help the dx alot), and the other stuff. Also the dx already has weight advantage.

good kills, my boys 3kgt is mad slow even with i/e. best he ever pulled was 16.3 and its was 5spd. I ran 16.1 so very believable. what can you say not everyone that drives an si knows how to drive.
Redline04 you can go ahead and wake up out of your dream, b/c there is no way you could beat an 04 SI. Stop lying to everyone and admit you are slow. SI's are just too far out of your league.

okay guys...I live in the same city as 1320racing and Redline....from what I HEAR, the guy with the SI cant drive (launch)....he'll admit it...he admit it to another guy when he lost to him b/c he just got the car recently...I didnt see any of these races nor did I know about them but I do know he (the SI) cant drive....far as the GT, I dont know anything about that car so I cant call it....anyway good kills Redline...I'm assuming u playing the "ladder of speed"
hey 1320racing and redline....get some SI kills on VIDEO and I'm sure it will cease the hating

weight redux recap:
Stock curb weight:2449lbs
Est. Current weight: 2249
Ok est free weight reduction so far about 200lbs:
(bathroom scale so not 100% acurate)
Sp Tire 24lbs
Tire iron and wheel bolt 2lbs
Jack 3lbs
Center trunk carpet 1lbs
Cardboard? over Sp Tire 7lbs
Driver Side Back Seat 12lbs
Pass. Back seat 7lbs
Back seat bench 8lbs
Passenger Seat 35lbs
Center hinge trunk plastic 1lbs
Driver side trunk carpet 1lbs
Passenger side trunk carpet 1lbs
4 mud flaps 2lbs
Driver rear panel 5lbs
Driver rear pillar 1lbs
Passenger rear panel 5bs
Passenger rear pillar 1lbs
Side sills 2lbs
kick panels 1lbs
Front carpet 13lbs
Rear seat belts 7lbs
Entire rear deck inc. speakers 10lbs
That's about 149lbs so far.
Now 1 gallon of gas weighs 6.2 lbs. I try to keep a 1/4 tank when racing and never more than a half daily. So lets do worst case scenario. A civic has a 13 gallon tank.
13 x 6.2lbs =80.6lbs
Worst case 1/2 of 80lbs= 40lbs
So up to 189lbs.
Now I'm quite sure between my exhaust, header and intake they will add up to the 11 lbs needed over the stock components.
Oh then there is my wheel setup. 12.5lbs 17" forged Velox Pg5-s.
2.5lbs less per corner of unsprung weight.
Kyokugen lug nuts 1/4lb less per corner.
So 2.75 x 4= 11lbs of unsprung weight, which actually has a greater effect than sprung weight.
Things left to remove to reach target weight somewhere between
2000-2100lbs
.
Door panels and anything else not needed behind them 5-10lbs per side?
Stereo 5-10lbs?
Roof liner 5lbs?
Sound insulation 15-40lbs?
AC and components (Last thing, Hot as hell here!) 50-100lbs?
Center console 5lbs?
Stuff that's gonna cost
CF hood 5-10lbs?
CF trunk 5lbs?
CF Fenders 10lbs?
Racing seat 10-15lbs
Lexan rear windows 15-30lbs?
Lighter battery 10lbs?
Other stuff not thought of yet????
In the end somewhere between 2000 and 2100lbs

well my car will eventually be just for the track, as it is now i only drive it back and forth to work and race on the weekends. Any way Im in Louisiana, it doesn't get that cold here too often and my car is always in the garage. No different than people with 5% or limo tint, you cant see anything with that stuff.
Just like removing the AC it will be one of the last things I do.

All that weight reduction on a new car is unthinkable for me, but I do have to consider driving the family around. How hard are the seats to take out and put back in for a track day?
Why is my vagina bleeding?

Its not worth it for that much weight for the hassle. You wont feel any change.

It's worth it to me, I'm aiming for mid 15's and trying to squeeze every bit of performance out of this car with minimal mods(for now). I only paid $13000 for this car brand new. Put $1500 into the motor. So to me a mid 15 sec brand new reliable car for under $15000 isn't a bad deal. Im not trying to be the fastest out there. There is always someone faster. It's just a hobby. A slow step by step process. When I bought the car it ran 17.0 flat. My goal is to take this "econo" car from 17's all the way to 12's. That is the goal I set for myself. It's not gonna happen over night, but thats what makes it fun.
