New timeslips from the track

i went to the track today and i have to tell you, this is one of THE worst tracks i have been too. it was a damn gravel road leadin up to the track and then the pit road was torn up. the track itself wasnt too bad, but i couldnt get any traction on it.

i am really gettin kind of annoyed with my launches. have great reaction times, but i am getting terrible wheel hop. i recently switched over to rota subzero rims with 215/40/17 bridgestone fuzion sz1 tires and i drop the pressure to 17 psi for the track and even when i launch at 2500 RPM i still get terrible hop. anyone know what i am doing wrong and how i can get some nice smooth launches even with wheels spinning i would take over hop.

well anyways here are my timeslips. i am number 579

^ my best reaction time to date. check that out

^ best time i have had so far

^ just another run with a good reaction time against a turbo talon. i had no chance

^ race against my friend's 5th gen lude that was spraying. it is his first time using it, so he can still perfect it and probally get a 14.9. i rode in his car when he was spraying and let me tell you, it is fast as hell. it literally pushes you back in the seat. hes got a zex 55 shot he is running.

Those 17 are the reason for your high track times, put some 15;s on and you see difference. Also keep the air in the tires next time and try. Get used ot the way the car grips the track then let air out to around 20-25 psi. Any other questions just ask Also if you don't know reaction time does not add to 1/4 ET.

i know about reaction time, i just liek saying that i almost had a perfect r/t plus, they had a thing going for anyone who got a perfect r/t would get $500 that night, i was sad i didnt win

you really think it iss the wheels? the rota subzero wheels are extremely light. i think chris even said they were one of the lightest sets of 17s available and i think they weigh less than the stock wheel/tire combo.

also, i thought lower psi was better? wont having it higher lead to more wheel hop?

do you know how the wheel hop problem is fixed?

It not the wieght. The bigger the tire ther slow you times. Trust me, my times stock with 15in hub caps ran 16.3@ 84. I'm telling you put stock front back on the front of the car only keep the 17's on the back so the car slope forward. you can see mid 16's. Also rev to about 3000-3500 and then go down the track.

i was talkin to someone else and they said my 60' time sucks and im gettin wheel hop because im riding stock struts on lowered springs. is this true? would thicker sway bars and strut bars help keep the wheels on the ground?

poremba: your 60' times suck ... feather your launch and don't floor the gas when you're launching (if that is what you're doing)

I'm riding on stock struts and lowered springs and my launches aren't bad (although I can't say I've ever been to a track ... I'm a street racer...)

17's will slow you down too ... even if they are "lighter". The rim may be lighter, but the center of mass is farther out and the tire is wider, so it's heavier (u really don't need those unless you're putting down tons of power)

not sure how good bridgestone fuzion tires are ... you also may want to try something else (potenza s03's, bfg ta kd's, goodyear eagle f1 gsd3, etc)

as far as pressure you are probably too low. at 17 psi the middle of the contact patch is probably barely pressing down on the track. the edges of the tire are basically what you are riding on. Like lazy dog said 20-25 or maybe a lil more. radials are meant to have a descent amount of pressure in them. Also 17s are garbage for drag racing with our cars.

What track are u going to up here in ohio, i usually go to National Trails which is like 15 minutes away. Im not understanding ur trap speed of only 80 mph though. Stock should be around 84-85 mph if not higher with mods. I dont' think its ur 17's slowing down ur trap speed cuz i had heavy 17's and gettin 16.8's at 84. Get ur stock steelies and run on them and u will improve i would bet. Good luck

this was my first time at dragway 42 and i hated it. the track was absolute crap.

ive been to quaker city raceway and that place is 100x nicer and the track is way better

i wanna give norwalk a try, but i heard they get so busy that you can only get 1 or 2 runs in a night

I still cant' get why ur trap is only 80 mph considering the mods to ur car. Are u weighed down do u think or shifting at redline?

17 inches has to go around more tire than 15 inches does. Lowering your tire pressure that low will NOT help you unless you want to snap an axel. If you want, racing slicks will help but you should swap your axels. Ask Lazydog how many guys he's seen break axels on Civics with slicks at Honda Day in E-town. I know I saw at least 4 or 5. Plus, you have an LX. Unfortunately modded LXs don't match up to modded EXs. Get a downpipe and a header on that, you'll see an improvement. Plus I noticed you have an ACT Clutch. That's cool, but what power are you transfering? You only have an intake and cat back exhaust listed in your mods. Your oil cap isn't doing anything for you... Do you have more mods, if not, do you really expect to get better times with just those? I only had 117.8 peak WHP with my EX when I had an intake and muffler. Hope this helps a little.
