04 EX vs 02 S-10 2.2L... fun race :)
Tonight myself and a buddy were moving some furnature into my new place. He's got a chevy S10 with the 2.2L inline 4 in it. Compared to me he's a rather highly agressive driver, and since he was following me, he saw fit to conduct said following 2 feet off my bumper. The on ramp from hampton rds. center parkway onto 64E is a long, banked curvatious thing. I went into it at 60 with him on my tail.... took it up to 70 with him on my tail... then left him when I bumped it to 75. He exited the ramp about 20 car lengths behind me because the corner scared him.
Later we raced in town for fun. I had myself and another 200+ pounder in the car with me, for 400 lbs of meat trying to be pulled along. We raced off 2 consecutive lights and then once again after a U turn where I started out behind him. I beat him by 4 or 5 car lengths-and-leaving by the time I shut down at 60 (spd limit is 45).
Not the greatest of kills out there, but it sure was fun. Even though I had 4 times his weight in passangers (He's a scrawn) I still whooped up on him.
For the lurking troll reading this: Racing is more about smiles-per-mile than what you can or can't beat.

even with that weight in your car, he still had hundreds of pounds on you. and probably less HP.
i don't take my races up super fast either. i only hit my top speeds on my own on long, empty stretches of road, early in the morning. otherwise i toy with people

Yeah, I probably had a few hundred lbs on him. The 2.2L chevy uses most likely has more torque than I do and it's a truck so it is probably geared lower... Either way though he didn't stand a chance. After we made a U-turn I was behind him as he flew past me, finger raised, on the loser-flyby. He got around the U-turn first and scooted away, I came from 3 car lenghts behind to pass him before shutting down at 60.
I only race if it's not gonna endanger anyone else on the road. Even then I -always- shut down at no more than 15 over the speed limit (which is how fast traffic around here will eventually get to given enough time and space.... they all have weak go-pedal feet and can't move out faster than 1mph per second.... give them 80 uninterupted seconds though and they'll obliterate whatever they hit when they apply the weak foot to the brake pedal for a red-light
)
Racing is all about having fun and enjoying your car, it's not worth getting killed, imprisoned or fined over.

Sounds like you described my friend who owns an S-10 4 cylinder, except my friend isn't scrawny. I have spanked his S-10 with my 04 automatic DX in similar situations. Why is it that S-10 owners are highly aggressive drivers?
Cocky guys kick ass!

I think S10 owners are kin to Dodge Ram drivers except minus a few feet of width/length and a couple hundred ponies...
I don't crawl going down the highway by any stretch and constantly seem to have a Ram tailgating me... Same blood-lines, different trucks. He didn't stand a chance at all against my 04 ex 5-spd... by the end of first I was already leaving
Yeah, I'd have lost to the V6 most likely, but it's all good fun. The real beauty of it though is that a civic will run for 100k no matter how bad you abuse it so long as you keep good oil in it and let it warm up before beating on it, can't say the same for the chevy...
