turbo 1/4 mile times
turbo 1/4 mile times
i was just wondering if anyone had a 1999-2000 model year civic ex sohc vtech 5spd with a turbo kit, and if so what would the average 1/4 mile time be in that car?
on stock kit boost im guessing about 6-8 psi?
i know there are lots of variables but givin the hp of the turbo kit what would it run hp/weight.....
i was told it would run about a 15.00 but i thought that is a little high, please let me know what you guys think!

its nearly impossible to find a 99-00 civic owner on this site..
average time of that kind of civic.. i'd guess like high 16's,17's ? not too sure.
i beleive it has 117hp and like 95+ something torque?
boost on 6-8 psi would probably hand out 150-160 ish hp? and an guessimate of high 15's because you said your gonna run it stock right?
if you have the money to turbo, u should also be able to afford other mods like bolt-ons, lightweight wheels, etc.
-intake ($100-250)
-exhaust system ($300-500)
-headers ($150-250)
-hi flow cat (100% illegal) (?)
^these are bolt-ons if you dont know yet... prob an 3-7hp gain

really a sohc vtech civic can get mid14,s with a turbo kit?
im just wondering becuase my freind has a 97 nissan 240sx auto with a nsport turbo kit running 7 psi and he has been talking mad s*%& on my freinds 99 civic ex with a greddy turbo kit and exhuast. my freind has not been to the track yet but im wondering if he can take the 240 from a dig or a roll?

you'd be slower than a turbo stock, but you'd be MUCH, MUCH happier with the gsr swap ... 8k redline, dohc vtec ... wut's not to like? ;P
but stock, they run high 16's/17's ...
w/ a good turbo kit on 6-7 pounds, mid 14's ...
greddy turbo kits aren't great ... they use a very small turbo and I hear their fmu sucks... *shrug* ... just wut I heard.
oh yeah, 240's are different food groups too ... you can't compare a 240 to a civic ... but yeah, the 240 would probably own your friend roll or dig... unless he doesn't know how to drive auto

yeah i would swap and of course 99-00 sohc can run 14s on boost at sac raceway someone had a 99-00 civic on boost runnin low 13's wit custom turbo pistons rods etc and boost at 10 psi wit interior gutted and slicks its very possible
Whats the major difference between a 6th gen and 7th gen civic minus the displacement, weight, and added emissions controls on 7th gens? The 7th gens have a little more power but also got a little heavier. I also heard they're more aerodynamic...if a 7thgen with 6.5psi can run a 14.5 1/4 mile then im sure a 99-00 civic would do the same. Oh and about the 240sx race and a 91 hatch with a B18 swap. I know a guy with a Ls/vtec swap in a 92 Si hatch with exhaust, intake, header, VAFC, stage 3 clutch, lightened flywheel, lsd, injectors and fuel rail and he makes around 175-185whp...ive also seen him whoop the **** out of GT mustangs(260hp 300lb ft). Take weight into consideration, a built GSR swap in a 2200lb car will mess up a turbo 3000lb car.
a turbo 240 weighs only 2800 ... if you take a built b18 and a built 240, the 240 will win hands down. The ls vtec hatch you're talkin about has quite a few mods while both these cars are relatively lightly modded, or that's what it sounds like in the post.
well if that's all he's makin then that's pretty pathetic ... I don't know how he can beat on the newer gt mustangs, they must suck horribly at driving. You should post the same thing in a mustang forum and see wut kind of response you get. Also, don't make a built honda motor magazine-time car race a stock mustang gt ... that's really really stupid.

i didnt realize the 240's were that light. My fault. I figured they were made similar to the 300z platform and those are heavy cars. And yes a built 240 motor is strongly, i know that as well, i just know a lot of $$ has to be put into them to make them fast, just as much as a swap and build in a Honda. Thats why i say just turbo the stock SOHC. My friends hatch is surely making more power than that, he's never dyno'd it but i was just guessing. And yes the new GTs are fast as well..off the line they beat the pants off him but by 3rd he pulls on them. But i sure as hell would not mind having a factory svt that murders turbo 240s and turbo civics anyday
i think my freinds 240 is running about 260 at the wheels i was at the dyno at our local shop here and i think it was about 260 263? so im guessing about 300 hp at the crank due to an auto and drivetrain loss, and thats at 8 psi, so my freind with the 99 civic and turbo kit better hope he's dumb enough to miss shift with that auto or or his civic is going down down down the civics going down!

I pulled a 14.5 at 7.5psi with an 8.2 lb flywheel. If I had the stock fly I would have run about a 14.2-14.3. BTW- No short shifter either.

With DRs but I ran the same 60' time I was doing with my street tires. They weren't letting us smoke the tires to heat them up cuz they were in a rush.
But yeah, 96mph. 2.2 60'.

loving hondas does not make a deferance on this site every body on here claims there car is slow on here. and i am sure it is possible to get high horse power with the k24. but it is just eaiser to obtain with a sr20 or rb20.
