Let's forget about Cocky for a second. I wanted to know if I could run with a 2k1 Jetta that had 150hp with my EX with 127HP.

It says in Cocky profile that he has a DX not an EX.

If both cars have good drivers who has the advange on a straight. Cause there is no doubt that Civic will turn much better than the jetta(way better suspension set up, and way lighter). You can't convince me otherwise about the handling on the Jetta.

It might come down to driver.... but 2k1 jetta has a slightly lesser hp than current 1.8t 150hp->180hp. But the 1.8t has a better torque curve compared to your gens torqueless engine :-p. So same driver... jetta might have a slight edge.

Why does an RSX type S pick up faster than a 1.8T, its got a lot less torque?
I seen trucks with a lot of torque. I thought torque is needed to get the wheels moving and once there moving its all bout HP. Once your wheels are rolling isn't it all about Horsepower. Most american cars have a lot of torque. Noens and cavaliers, sunfires, but there still not that fast. How is that a Stock Integra type R with less HP and a lot less torque than a stock nissan Silivia puts it to shame in the quarter mile. I think there more to it. Why is that that Honda's are fast even though they have no torque? I think there's more to it.

Acceleration is really all about HP. Perfect example 2003+ Kawasaki Ninja 636

110whp
45ft-lbs of torque
10.3@133mph

Once your rpms are up then its all about the HP. Tq is great in road racing. Imagine coming into a curve at like 60, but you come out of it going 35.. .your to fast to shift into 1first gear but to slow to be in your power band. .thats where torque is REALLY good. it gets you into your power band faster. Why ducati's are corner kings they maintain a lot of speed in the curve and when they exit they can haul ***. This is also why a 6 speed tranny is nice, more gear ratio's to chose from so you can always stay in your power band.

Or when you launch a car from a dead stop torque helps. Other then that is for towing IMHO

Neon's are faster then some people give them credit for. I had a 96 SOHC automatic. NOT FAST. but the DOHC with 5 speed can be fairly quick.

I was driving my modded 86 300zx N/A and this girl rolls up in a blue neon DOHC. we didnt rev or anything we both take up and she floors it, so im like ooo no you don't. I couldnt catch her. i was like WTF.

They can hit high 15's stock.

Who told u then pick up faster than a 1.8t? I've beaten type-s numerous times on the line. That was my biggest advantage. You might not believe it... but at higher RPMs.. V-Tec does a tremendous job picking up the car.

Well about torque on a turn, why don't you rev match and throw your car in the proper gear before entering the turn to keep it in the right revs(that what I do). The 1.8T will launch quicker than the Type S but I find it get to 60 quicker. Lets give Honda some credit, come on its lighter and has more horses. Its comes down to the driver to. You know your in trouble if a honda matches you or beats you on the lauch, then you know your screwed.

yeap I know my advantages. Lets be real here though. More than 75% of the honda drivers probably doesnt know how to utilize the V-tec to their strengths by knowing when the power band stops dropping. I'm giving honda credit for their light and quick cars. I love honda. I never said I'll stop liking them. Look in my profile and my rides. I owned a 92 lude and a 01 civic before trying the dub.

What I always loved about honda is how quick they are fully modded w/ turbo. It's sickening and of course the great power to weight ratio they have. Reliability isnt really a factor here because modding a car just throws that reliability factor out the window.

BTW I got smoked by an ITR last night... bah he matched my launch and walked me. Sigh I love those ITR.

Its funny what a measly 127hp can do. What's a bummer is that there aren't many aftermarket engine mods for our generation civics.
