if the si is boosting no u dont have a chance.. if the si is spraying you dont have a chance.. if the si has a k20a swap you dont have a chance.. so just hope he is close to stock and if he is you will smoke him
it all depends on how boosted that si is i beat my friends SI with a turbor up until 65 without a supercharger, then he got and held a 2 car length lead, of course i was picking a bad fight here so
Are U Kidding me?
Man, after reading this thread I was so amazed at your question you made me register and post just b/c of you. I have a 1995 Trans Am as well, and surely you weren't serious about losing to a civic Si. Your LT1 engine has 275 hp and 325 pound feet of torque. 0-60 comes in 5.5 seconds, and the 1/4 is in the high 13's. Now do you really think a civic Si can take you? Even if he had NOS or a turbo, you should still put car lengths on him. I sure hope you learn a little more about your car, b/c it is a phenomenal one.
werd....i test drove a trans am....holy shizzzzzzzzzzzzz i almost wet myself.
i drove a modded 90 supra before tha twas up to close to 300 ponies...and that trans am felt like it had more pull. oh man....that car is soo sweet. a friend of mine has the 01 SS that runs 11's or 12's w/ slicks. oh man....its soo nice.

Oh my, unless the kid has a race built Si, i still don't see him pulling on the Trans Am. Granted I am biased with my Trans Am but still its a civic, lol. And for being a gas guzzler they aren't that bad, I checked my gas mileage yesterday, I got 23 miles around town driving, and have gotten 29 when i get out on the highway. Y'all should check out some of the other boards like ls1tech, and camaroz28. The peak torque comes on at 2400rpms, so they launch like no other. I would like to hear about this Si as well.

i know this is a ricer term but it does prove a point..
power / weight ratio
also a stage 1 turbo si will push 260-290whp and most run mid to low 13's
my first car was a 98' Z28 and i know the brute power they put down but it doesnt take much for a civic to compete with the v8's.. sure if you put 5k into both the v8 will kill the 4banger but that isnt the point

You said peak torque at 2400? Thats cause you drive an Lt1 right? The Ls1 powerband shifted the peak torque up a bit in the mid 3's i think. I also know a a few lt1 owners and best times from them with good mods, no spray, were mid 13's repectable but by far not unobtainable by a well built Civic.
2k1, yes, ls1 peak torque did move up in the powerband, but are still really strong throughout the powerband, and are underrated unlike the lt1's. Most dyno what they are rated at the flywheel. Just depends on the cars and the drivers, but ls1 run low 13's, and if modded would Kill any civic. But a civic beating a Trans Am, usually means
