Almost beat a Grand Prix Gt

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand gernades, I know but anyway.

I was driving down K-7 in Leavenworth with my 93' 3.1 Corsica this time, there was this Black Grand Prix GT. NOT a GTP, and there was 4 people in the car, it was a 4 door GT. I was driving not to far behind him after we got off the Highway, K-7 is a 2 lanes going both ways, 65 speed limit. I decided to try to see if he wanted to play, knowing full well I would have no chance in my civic, i wanted to test out my corsica. I pull up to him, and look at him, its guy in his late 20's I would guess. I sped up quickly and let off the gas, till i was even again, nothing... Speed up again, and let go, just as I became even with him he hit it. I did to as well about a second latter then him, I have 2 other passengers at the time. When I hit it he was about half a car on me, I caught up SLOWLY to be even with him. We were even for a bit, at about 90 he started pulling a little hard on me. I had the car in 2nd, from when i was messing with him, and did not put it back in drive. I put it in drive, but he shut down at about 100, and the run was over.

My question is how did my 3.1 come close to his 3.8????? Yes there both V6's with decent pull, but the pontiac 3.8's are GREAT performing engines. Yes weight has a nice factor i know this, but wow.

93 3.1L puts out 140hp and 185 torque but weighs 2665 lbs
99 3.8L puts out 200hp and 225 torque it also weighs 3414 lbs

so hes got almost 800lbs on you.. so thats probablly why..

i know one guy that was talking to a buddy of mine about putting a Grand Am GT engine in his 96 sunfire. Not sure how possible that is but it reallly doesnt matter to me. Anyways the funny part of the story is he was talking bout being in the 12's and low 13's. because "The sunfire's like 2200lbs and the GT's 4000". In accuality the sunfires 2,650lbs and the GT's 3050lbs.

Good luck with those 12's you tool

ummm unless im missing something.. but i thought the grand AM gt had a 3.1.... the grand prix gt has the 3.8... so it is possible to fit a 3.1 into the sunfire... altho.. the electronics are probablly a little more of a hassle to deal with for this swap...

cause jamming a v6 into something that was only designed for a 4 is kinda ludacris... unless its an accord.. in which it was designed for v6 first.. and then put a 4 into it..

...i know...the guy's a tool. He doesnt know what he's talking about. He was saying "the GT runs 15.5 stock and its 4000lbs. So when i get it in my car this summer it'll be running 12's or low 13's cause of the fact its almost 2000pounds lighter."

try 400lbs lighter and he'd still probably only be in the high 14's.
