Celica GT-S vs SRT- 4

This was my 2nd race with my new setup and I can't say that I was disappointed

I saw a kid in an srt-4 at the gas station this morning ( I live by a high school) and I been dying to get into with a decent car with my new setup so I waited a few seconds after I finished to make sure we left the same time. when we got to the light I reved at him (It's really loud and I can nuetral rev up over 8K now ) he didnt bother to rev back he just laughed so I did a little rev and this time he revd back. So I jumped my rpms up to 8K and held it. On green he spun a bit and my car just took off. I had him by 2 cars off the line and I kept on it til 90 only cause he shut down shortly after I raped him off the line cause he couldnt pull on me so I figured ok I'll try a roll. I droped it in 2nd and slowed down and waited for him.


as soon as he paced for a second I honked then went. I pulled a fender instantly cause obviously I started first. rode 2nd up to 8600 and I saw him shift first and fall back to my bumper. and then I shifted and kept the lead. same thing in 3rd he droped back a lil when he shifted I hit 8700 limiter in 4th at 120 mph and shut down. his bumper was near my rear tire.

I was gonna give him the thumbs up but when the next light cae up it turned red and he ran right throught it

anyways. love my new toy

Power FC & custom tuning

Power FC is to Celica what Hondata is to RSX-S

EXcept that if you buy the power FC and stick it in your car your car wont run. lol on its own its a $1,000 paper weight.

however it's a standalone ECU and is 100% tunable. we took these base maps from a company that gained 6 whp more then stock. which on its own is like who cares. we hand tweaked it to something more to our liking. lol I will guestimate 175 whp which is 5 peak whp more then they got. our new map is still VERY conservative. I expect to put down 180 whp on the 25th after we dyno tune it for an hour.

once stafford finishes a special project for me and I get my stuff to dh-racing I expect to be one of the first 200+ whp N/A celica's easily.

I also hope to be running low 13's w/o slicks and start given rsx-s a real run for their money. I'll be lookin for 13.7's even in this 90 degree heat at sea level on saturday.

so my new mod list is.....
AEM CAI
Power FC (new ECU)

oh yeah, we gained well over 20 whp at 4500 rpms. You no longer feel lift because I now have the same power much sooner so the power band is totally smoothed out

That is good that you can't feel lift anymore. People brag about the B16 engines because they just explode once they hit VTEC but they have no power before that

i don't know about that, i've got a b16 in my g2 teg and it's running stock internals with a spoon head gasket and bolt ons with a vtec controller and it's mean as hell before the vtec comes in, it's got the s1 tranny with an lsd, so that might help a little...

I rode in my friends and that was what it felt like. But his was stock lol.

I could get pulled on by civics before lift with the stock ECU so my car was like that too. this totally fixed that. we'll see how it goes saturday. that will be the proving grounds. lol

dayum if you rev to 8700 all the time you could snap a rod like i did in my old 93 ls motor. but i was reving to 7700. you seriously can tear something especially past the stock redline. i never rev my ls motor past 7200. my old setup tends tends to throw rods past 7500. hence the 81x89 stroke. vs your 82x85 stroke.

Now that's what I call tuning...Alot of fanboys think that adding an exhaust or other bolt ons is considered "tuning."

Fugg that....you're doing some real nice legitimate tuning with that car. I can't wait to see what's next...

CelicaGTS, you certainly have some impressive times for a car tuned so little.. my question is.. could you take any Celica GTS 6-Speed and achieve similar times with the same setup? Or is your motor just one of those special ones that for some odd reason are extra fast? Celicas are great cause they're light. Nobody expects them to run 14s stock.

wow I been off this board for awhile and my post is still getting replies. lol

so I now have a lil more tuning done, body kit and ran 13.7's I'm at 13.8 with full interior now with a new best 60' of 1.979.
