Single best thing I did... Shorter tires. 205/50/15 = 6% shorter gearing = faster acceleration. I don't know how much it would help for drag racing.... I never timed it out, but I know you're going to need 4th gear to finish out the 1320.
I always race on regular unleaded, be as smooth as possible, and don't force anything. Its better to scrub it and try again than to chance destroying the car.
Obviously ditch as much weight as you can, run 1/3 a tank of gas, open the sunroof (lower CG, move weight back), fold the back seats down if you can, recline the passenger seat as much as you can (lower the CG).

Shorter tires def helped my car dragging. I have no power before 6200 rpms so the faster I get there the better. Ice always helps everything too.

For drag racing...

For a FWD car, you want your CoG FORWARD, to put more weight on the drive wheels.

Moving it further back will only hurt your launch, giving you a slower 1/4 mile time.

For road racing...

I dont know what the civic's weight distro is, so I can't offer any tips here.
