I have an 04 Sentra Se-R Spec-V 6 spd (stock) vs. my Friends 1998 Prelude 5 spd (I/E)
The prelude has 200 hp stock so im thinking he'll prob tkae me im prob like a better driver but not by much at all so who would win

Both are probably low 15 second cars, right, or supposedly better for the 04 SER's. Anyway, Id say Drivers race. So, if you're better, you should win. Also, he may have some more hp, but you have a way better power curve. PERIOD, and he is by no means a lightweight. Out-drive him and you'll win. Oh, and I'm assuming you're going from a dig, right. Going from a roll gives him an advantage.

Rep Power: 274 the sentra would definetly win look at the torque difference the spec v has like 180 and that is crazy you will easily take him off the line so i am guessing you will win.
its not a bout horsepower its about torque

Rep Power: 382 wow. teh nub torque owns j00.
it's not about torque either..... seriously, like wow.
torque is not the determining factor in a race. people seriously need to get over that **** and stop acting like the torquey car will win.
blue honda civic.... explain to me why an S2000 can beat a mustang GT when the S2000 has 153lb/ft of torque to the mustang's 302lb/ft of torque.... yet the S2k is faster? exactly.
now onto the question, I think you can take his lude, however, he has a 4th gen lude, which was the fastest gen. it'd be close, but if you have some good driving skills, I think you can take him.
and don't race him from a high speed roll, cuz he'll probably take it to you.

Why not just race and see? who cares what people on this board say. Are you going to go to the guy and say "well..the people at 7thgencivic.com say I'll win"? As far as tourqe always winning? HAAHHAAAAA.

Oh, and this whole torque thing needs some explaining. Torque and HP are NOT SEPERATE ENTITIES. HP is merely a recalculation of TQ. So, the way that a torquey car is beat by one that has significantly less TQ is through weight, gears, and revs. The calculation for hp is "hp= (TQ x RPMs) / 5200, so if the S2000 can hold its TQ til 8500rpms, the calculated hp will be MUCH higher than its tq number. The advantage of the Stang is that it has gobs of tq down low and therefore has a much higher HP number down low as well, therefore giving it the advantage there. However, because the 2.0L revs like crazy it can make up for its relative torque deficit by multiplying the TQ by 7900 (its peak if I remember correctly, maybe this is the 04) whereas the GT only multiplies its TQ by 5900 or so. That a big difference. The other advantages of the S2k to make up for the GTs power are its light weight and the 6spd. Gearing. Basically, a good tq number will tell you how flat the overall powerband will be, but a flat power curve does not ensure victory, there are way too many variables.
Therefore, TQ is extremely important, but REVS, weight, and gears can make up that deficit. Otherwise, we'd all be buying F-350 Turbo Diesels and DESTROYING everything on the road.

now you realize, just cuz one car has more torque than the other doesn't mean it will win.

iono man.. blainestang's post seemed way too detailed/"scientific" to be from import tuner! seems like he knows what he's talking about.
anyways.. i'd say once you get your mods you should be able to take him, maybe not by much but yah..

make sure you get vids of the race. also if you think you're the better driver then you should race him with your current setup. most the spec V drivers I've seen can't control their launch very well. if you can you got it made. I think no matter what happens it'll be all driver.

^^^ try a str8 drop from a higher rpm and modulate the gas. lsd is meant more to control your wheel spin through turns then on acceleration. especially the stock one. I'm sure someone makes a stronger aftermarket version.
ALOT of people make the mistake of giving it too much gas off the line. Including myself from time to time.
It's especially important in the V because of the amount of torque. Thats why drag tires instantly help out. even if you give it a lot of gas off the line your wheel spin is minimized by the amount of traction the drag tires give. just get in alot of practice and you'll get good at it! good luck.

I have a feeling civic4dizoor has no clue what he is talking about. Where are you points to the lude winning? Besides something like man they look meen I think it will win.
