racing helmet on the street

Anyone ever tried wearing a racing helmet and drive around on the street in your Civic? This can't be illegal, right? Other people on the street might think you are stupid but I think it is pretty cool try out.

Jhonda has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I guess if you think a dumbass looks cool than yea sure you'll look cool.

But on a serious note I don't think it would be a bad idea to make most cars as strong as a nascar and wear helments do to the high death rate.....maybe it should be mandatory for the first 2 years of driving. Im not talking about a big *** helment just a thin one

FYI: Wearing a cool-looking racing helmet does not make you seem like a better driver, nor does it make your car faster .

Well, I did do it once... but it was after it got dark, and it was the night before an autocross. The helmet was new so I wanted to see just how much head movement I had, how much visibility I had and what it felt like.
I drove around for about 15 minutes and that was the end of that.

Yeah... and I'm only 5'10". I think I'd be screwed if I was taller.
Its not legal to lower the seat is it?

Its legal, STS allows you to change the seat to what ever seat you want (With some restrictions on padding and size. So I dont see any problem with lowering the drivers seat. Personally I'm looking to get some sport seats that are lower, rather then modifying the exzisting seat. But that may be what I do in the mean time.

Yukonart will become famous soon enough
Totally. . . if I had tried autocrossing without the Sparcos in the Civic, I would've had a hell of a time trying to sit at the right position to drive.

Just putting those in (with the Speedware brackets) lowered the seating height by a good three inches.

You might want to also put on some yellow dishwashing gloves while your at it.........you know.....to complete the look. At least, that's what I do.
