Celicas with "minor exhaust and suspension mods" win 24 hr race by more then 9 laps coming in 1st and 2nd place. Average speed 112 mph. Also having one of the smallest engines in the race the celica still came out on top.


I posted this for teh noobs who keep raggin on teh celica! lol enjoy.

props to the amatuer team on the wins and to all their unpaid volunteer workers. lol

Celicas have allways been good race chassis. for road racing that is (I dont think any FWD car makes a good Drag chassis personaly).

Just goes to show you that Small Light Import cars are MUCH better for the corners then the Straights.

^^ yep agreed. RWD seems to be the best drag chasis. AWD loses too much in the transfer but makes some awesome launches. lol

Thats Austrailia they dont use mph. Not impressive considering most V8's are not made for road courses

I celica was better around the turns, because it was the smallest car in the race, however your links says........

another thing to take into consideration is pitstops.............V8's usually hold alot more fuel..............meaning extra time to fuel, unfare race IMO. Now if there was 2 Mini Cooper S's, I bet you there would have been differnt results.


You also forgot to mention that they are using race pads. Definitly an upgrade when racing.

Should I go through and post the cars that DIDNT finish the race? things like Oh a 350z, STI..... just to name a few. lol next time read a lil more before you make accusations. lol Not a good way to earn respect around here.

What other cars were they running?? Only pics I found were Porches, BMWs, Lamborghinis, Ferraris & other LeMans type cars, & I dont see a celica even coming close to beating those.

^^ no offense taken. I didnt write the article or hold the race. lol I know there was alot of cars faster then the celica but remember this was an endurance race. and an agility race not str8 line accelleration.
BTW they listed all the cars and how they placed somewhere. I'll find it again. ......

Driver people. Don't blame a car for a poor driver.

Not trying to "rag" on the celica, but this doesn't prove much other than the fact that the celicas had some very skilled drivers.

Case in point.... do you really think a celica is "better" than those cars in a road course? No. A 350Z, STI, EVO, S2000, vette, etc, are all better road course cars, and in most instances would hand the celica its ***.

I could drive a festiva around a road course faster than my mom could drive a Z06 around a road course.... does that mean the festiva is superior?

No.

the only thing you've shown with this is who had the better drivers. Period. It's not the "magical" car.
