Look at all the Spec V's representin'!! I will have to check out that video tonight from my cable connection. I know what you mean about chirping and wheel hop. The 6250 rev limit doesn't help that much either. I would love to be able to shift at 8300 like the celica or even 8000 like the RSX-S. I will keep my torque though, no better feeling then giving my wife whiplash when I slam it down in 4th gear. hehehe

I agree it will probably still chirp, but that was bad shifting to begin with. or use of the clutch should i say. looked like he basically dumped the clutch going into 2nd and stayed at 6k rpm.

im not quite sure if i got this post.....wtf are you talking about? ive checked and checked and checked...im not slipping like everyone else seems to think i am...sorry guys it just does that...i got a vid of me slipping and burning all to hell if you want me to post it? the only reason it stays at 6k rpms is the fact that it is spinning..if you watch it once it stops spinning it goes back down

here is slipping.
okay sooooooo im supposed to let the revs go all the way down before shifting =o) yeah....odd...
2500rpms in 1st...no slipping...dont even have my foot on the clutch....2nd gear...yes thats spinning...yes i let off. if you hear me i say 2500. as for the rpms im starting at.
the road was kinda damp, but most portions of the road were dry.

^^ Um you are supposed to shift at the right rpm so that you land just after the beginning of your powerband. And for almost all of us thats right before fuel cutoff. SO I dont understand why you're saying he shifted at too high of an rpm. hell I shift at 8350 and land at 6400 but thats the sweet spot for my car. anylower and I'm outa my powerband.
I saw and talked with a guy in a spec V last night at the track. he had I/E/H/P and he controlled his 2nd and 3rd gear fine on regular yokohama es 100's. I ended up beating him by .0028 which was hella close. we both ran 9.5's and he had no prob he said. You just have to learn to control it. I think I might go test drive one just to see what you guys are feeling. Since I'm torqueless. lol

Alrighty. So he shifts immediatly (quick shift fine), and lets the clutch out fast. All Im saying, is that there should be a nice smooth transition of letting the clutch out (in a perfect world). and when your done, it should land at the 4800rpms or so it lands at after it finished that bit of spin into 2nd. but you let the clutch out at about 5900rpms, which made it so you were forcing the the tires to travel faster than your car, hence the chirp. you understand?
Edit: I really am nitpicking. if i was driving, i would chirp too. haha.

in a perfect world of ultimate traction....yeah it should smoothly go down in rpms and accelerate back up...i wasnt really forcing the tires to spin....it just happens....i got a video of me just punching it in 2nd gear at around 4k rpms and chirping....

4k in 2nd would take me 6 yrs to get up speed. lol I can do that at 6200 though. lol I want torque
lol
you should hit the track and see how you do. It's a good learning tool. Thn you'll be able to feel when something isnt right.

If you want to F*cking start ****, do it somewhere else. that comment is what I'd call "fishing" for a fight. Make some offhanded remark about "that's what happen when you have decent tq in a fwd car". kiss my ***.
Although you seem to think its impossible not to churp it really isnt(a spec v isnt ferrai) and is huring your accerleration. When the tires chirp they lose traction thuss the tires are no longer griping the road making you accelerate. Learn not to chirp its a bad habbit. Also listen to members on the board instead of lashing out at them for there suggestions. 00celicagts6spd-he knows what hes talking about and i have learned alot from reading his posts-Ive only been driving stick since july 1st and everybody who rides with me comments on how smooth and good i shift-no chirping(always did when i was first learning how to drive a stick fast),spinning(always did when i was first learning how to drive a stick fast),lurching, stalling, misshifting etc.
By the way i first learned how to drive stick in my friends 280whp 12 second wrx. Fd is alot different than rd or awd you have to know that the tires are going to spin easily and you have to adapt your driving to compensate for that.

interesting response....ive actually tried not to spin 2nd gear and it results in a slower time always....ask anyone who drives a spec...if taching out 1st and going full throttle in 2nd..you are going to spin...unless you slip the heck out of the clutch....also how was i fishing for a fight when the first post other than mine was directed at the fact that i was "trying" to spin tires. i mean **** fella look at your post =o) so whos "fishing" for the fight?

Of course I'm going to lay the smackdown when someone with a spec v comes in here and goes "well gee, tire chirp is what you get when you get a fwd car that actuallly has torque"
As in saying our civics don't "have" torque, etc. You were fishing for a fight, and you damn well know it. Don't play dumb.

if you can PM me and explain to me where he was telling you that you were "trying" to spin your tires and that he was posting to rip on you, please do, and then I'll unlock your thread.
