Ohhh so close.... (10/28 - Times, results, etc...)

TIMES ARE ON THE NEXT PAGE

Came in 2nd today... 3 tenths off 1st. Put up a damn good fight all day, was within a tenth at one point. In front of me was some dude in a Neon R/T, behind me was a 2.5RS, an e30 325, an EM1 Si and an RSX-S (in no particular order other than I beat them).
Class was won with a 35.885, I wound up with a 36.118 and the guy in the 2.5 RS (who I've been going at it with all season) ran 36.3xx. All in all, yet another awesome day. Considering I had an average 38 HP disadvantage and I still kicked some *** (and did a little schooling... had the S and the Si by at least 2 sec.) says something about the little light car with the good driver.
Of course... pictures:

The 2 extremes of suspension travel:

And its still rolling a bit (but not as bad as before the 19mm sway bar)

Thanks to my Dad for coming out and taking pics.

Sweet. Good pics. Mot to get off subject, but if I were to put a turbo on my vic, what class would I be put in? Most likely it would be a local auto-x.

what else do you have on the car??? the first class it would probably dump you in is Street Modified. then D-Modified or maybe one of the Prepaired classes, depending on what else you've done.

exhaust, revo ss, 17" wheels, but will be running on stock 15's untill can affort light racing 15's. That would be it, I have header and air filter, but that will cancel it out inplace of the turbo.

yup, Street Modified. Ofcourse, if you want to be compeditive, you may want to look in to setting up the suspension first rather then the turbo. Handling eats HP on an autocross track in most classes (Its also why corvettes do so well in their classes, handling + HP).

If you dont need to slow down in the corners then you dont need HorsePower to be fast.

Ive bolded what would be important for you.

Street Modified

18.1. ALLOWED MODIFICATIONS
All Street Touring modifications are allowed.
All Street Prepared modifications are allowed.
Section 15.6(Prepared Category, Brakes), except for subsection 15.6.H.
Drivetrain and related components (induction, ignition, fuel systems, etc.) are unrestricted except for the following limitations:
Engine must be from the same manufacturer as the body (Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Datsun, Honda/Acura, etc.) Badges that exist as marketing aliases for the manufacturer (Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Datsun) will be recognized as equivalents. Swaps involving makes related only at corporate level (e.g. Ford/Volvo, Renault/Nissan, Chrysler/Mercedes) are not recognized as equivalents. Models produced as a joint venture between manufacturers may utilize any engine from any partners in the joint venture, provided that an engine from the desired manufacturer was a factory option in that particular model (e.g. Eagle Talon available originally with either a Mitsubishi or Chrysler engine, may use any motor from Chrysler or Mitsubishi).
Maximum engine displacement:

Forced induction -
3.0L (OHC engines)
4.0L (pushrod engines)
Normally aspirated -
6.0L
Rotary engines (all) -
1.5L
Must comply with section 3.6.6 (3.6.B? There is no 3.6.6) regarding fuel.
Suspension components are unrestricted as long as they use the original attachment points. Brakes are unrestricted.
Subframe connectors are allowed, but each connector must be attached individually without any lateral components attaching the two longitudinal frame rails. Subframe connectors may be bolted or welded
The firewall, roof, doors, rear quarter panels, floor pan, trunk lid (if any) or rear hatch (if any) must remain stock. Holes may be drilled to allow attachment of body kits, etc. This specifically allows replacement hoods, fenders, wings, front & rear fascias, side skirts, and fender flares as per Section 14. Body panels may be attached with removeable (e.g., Dzus) fasteners.
Except as noted by these rules and the referenced rules, vehicles must be as originally delivered including all road going components such as lights, wipers, interior, heater, etc.
Rear passenger seat(s) do(es) not need to be retained.
Wings may only be attached to the rear deck/hatch area and may not extend more than six inches beyond the widest part of the bodywork on either side.
Any minor modification, intended to allow or facilitate any allowed modification, is permitted as long as it does not provide any intrinsic performance benefit in and of itself, does not provide a weight reduction of more than 1 lb., and is not explicitly prohibited elsewhere within these rules. This rule is intended to allow minor notching, bending, clearancing, grinding; the drilling of holes; affixing, relocating, or strengthening of brackets; removal of small parts, and similar operations performed in order to facilitate the installation of allowed parts or modifications. Competitors are strongly cautioned to make the minimum amount of modification required to affix a given part, and not to make unduly tortured interpretations of this rule. Modifications to the firewall in order to allow for increased engine setback, and any modification that changes the location of of a suspension pickup point, are explicitly forbiddden.

not bad at all you were only .263 sec off the leader.. and 16th in pax aint bad at all. Of course the SCCA is changing the PAX index for STS next year... they are moving it up twards STX's and D-Stock numbers. which is logical, because a well preped and driven STS car should be puting down times Closer to D-stock rather then G-stock as we are now. its .784 now so it should go up to either .789 or.791 D-stock is .798 and STX is .801 G-stock is .785.

The PAX index for SCCA solo 2 racing is a Multiple that you apply to your raw time that gives you a standing as to how you did Vs cars in Different classes.

Example of this, a STS car Vs an A-modified car (The fastes class)
STS has a PAX index of .784 A-mod has a index of 1.000. what this means is that if an A mod car ran a course in 30 seconds, the STS car would could run the same course in 38.265 seconds and get a pax of 30. seconds. If the STS car ran the course in say 37.689 seconds that would make a 29.548, beating the A-mod car. Its just a way to compair drivers in different classes and how they drove the coures. the SCCA adjusts the PAX index of each class based on how each class fairs in the national tour.
