For some reason I cant see my post so Ill try this again, and its not BS.
One of my friends a a base model 2003 saleen (non SC) w/ basani exhaust, and some expensive *** CF intake box. he has ran a 13:4 but consistantly runs 13:6's.
we raced from a stop, 20 mph roll, and 60 mph roll. here's the results:
from a stop: he got me off the line and then by the time I hit second gear I was right back next to him. By the end of 3rd I had my bumper ahead of his and we shut down.
from a 20 mph roll: this time we stayed dead even untill about 60 when I started to slowly over take him, by thw time I hit 4th and shutdown I had half a car lenght on him.
from a 60 mph roll: this was the great run. I started pulling on him allmost instantly, worked my way through 4th, into 5th and passed him and hit the 4 ways at about 125.
I know that if we had ran a little longer he would have beat me in top end, but I still passed him So im calling it my kill.

kill yes, *** raping not by a long shot. a bumper-half car length is by no means an *** raping. but it is comendable seeing how u have a civic and he has a saleen.

if your talking about a saleen xp8, then its believable because those saleens are slow as ****. they only have like 222 hp, 0-60 in 8.8 secs. any other saleens and you would have been the one getting your *** raped.
.
Well the only thing that sounds saleen about that car is the intake and it probley had a body kit...etc but no really power adders. Saleen makes there on exhaust and superchargers...etc which this one more than likely didn't have cause the supercharge ones are making right at 495hp.
Good kill...and to help you out here a little, there is a Saleen that is the base model so to speak. It is the S281 (the S281-E is the supercharged one) and it has the following parts:
Saleen S281 4.6 2V 285 HP Engine
Saleen "PowerFlash" performance calibration
Saleen power pulleys and custom designed S belt
Saleen performance air filter
Differential gear ratio 3.27:1
Saleen performance exhaust system
Saleen X-Pipe (new for 2002+)
and it runs the 1/4 in 14.1 sec @ 98mph (with a very good driver)
So if you are at least producing (at the fly) 230+/- you would hang with him...power to weight ratio. Our cars stock weight a light 2500 lbs where as the GT mustang weighs in over 3300 lbs then you add the Saleen body kit and you have one fat pig of a car...plus Mustangs are notorious for falling on their *** when they hit the top end unless they are force induced or have a cam with head work...that would allow you to beat him on the mid end of the mph.
I know I have defended them in the past but at the same time I have built enough of them to know what their week points are and have room to defend them and criticize them...

good kill regardless on if it was the base or not you still killed a saleen. Now go and kill all those cameros and trans am people who think they can easily beat civics without out know the full potential that a civic has

For the weight of the car and the amount of hp it comes with stock and the fact that it runs a 14.1 in non supercharged trim 13.4 of a best is good.
A stock 96-97 Z28 with a cat back and cold air induction kit will run a 13.5 or better.

about 17psi and you are maxing out the stock turbo, but most people throw in a custom ecm or some sort of boost control. standard is usually set at about 15.5-16 psi with an MBC or EBC. Only problem is with that, its easy to achieve part throttle full boost and run lean...which seriously f's up your engine.
i think i know why your friend is running such low boost. he probably bought a bov for the ricesound and the piston in it got stuck open, thus dropping boost.

the Saleen S281 comes in either supercharged or non supercharged form.
Non Supercharged is 285 HP and 315 lbs of torque..so a little weaker than a 99 or 01 cobra
the Supercharged version is 365 HP and 400 lbs of torque..
and then there's the S281E which is 425 HP, not too sure on torque
and easy way to tell if its a real Saleen is if u see white numbers under the left headlight or the S281 badging in the rear on the trunk...if there are numbers then its a real saleen...if not then it could be any other type of mustang with the Saleen body kit...a lot of people get the saleen kit cause its a good looking kit for the Mustangs...

Hold up folks there is a bunch of information going on here about the saleen...Plain and simple this is how it is and has been for quite some time now.
Currently there are only 3--count them-- one, two, three; saleen cars based on the mustang body and chassis.
(Unless you count the fact that there is a coupe, convertable and a speedster).
They are the S281, S281-E (formerly known as the S281-SC in 2000), and the SR
ONLY the S281-E is a supercharged 4.6 V8 putting out (the already mentioned) 425hp #'s .
Yes, in the mid to late 90's there was another supercharged Saleen mustang but it was the S351 mustang and boasted 495 hp--no longer made.
The SR is a 351ci engine (no not a 5.0 stroker engine an entirely different engine) Centrifugal Supercharged OHV 90 degree V-8...putting out 500+ hp.
There has not been any supercharged hp numbers below 400hp since the '00 S281-SC. (or if you count the ones that might be running 6 cylinders because of two fouled out plugs
)
