Blown away by a 97 Jeep Cherokee

My dad and I happen to be going down the same back country road the other day, he was in his Company '97 Jeep Cherokee 4 dr 4.0L auto and I was in my 02' Civic EX vtec auto.

We both pulled over to the side of the road along a straight stretch to B.S. and decided to do a little speed competition just for fun. To make it safe, since this was a narrow road he had me pull in front of him and told me to see if I could get away from him.

From a dead stop I hammer it, he had a little late start since we had no set "go" mark. Not long after I was going all out he came up beside me and passed me and kept going.

My car is really stock though, it's got a K&N filter and thats about it. I never claimed my car was fast, I just thought you guys might like to know about my Civics poor performance compared to other stock vehicles.

For real speed I have a '65 Coronet 440 that I drag race occasionally in the summer, but mostly use it to cruise and terrorize the local streets of my town and the neighboring town.

Haha, he grew up in the 60's muscle car era, he knows not to go up against the 440 unless you mean real business. I can't even get my Uncle to race me and he's got a 1966 Chevelle, 396/4 speed car. He's gone for a ride in my car before though so I guess he knows there's no point.

His cars no slouch of course, but 440s run well.

Sucks about the Jeep, I thought the coronet would run faster even on streets,

Because with intake my GS-R runs 9.622@73.51 in the 1/8 mile.
