a challenge 2 me

well me and a friend started up a group not to long ago... so far we have 5 ppl.. i tried to get my some friends to join... but lo and behold they had a group... i guess they took offense to me asking them to join so they started crackin on me... they talked about how slow my car was and that they would spnak the crap out of me.. one of them with a 00si wit intake and exhaust said he would be me even if i had turbo or n2o. Another that has a 01 civic wit intake and exhaust said he would spank me by at least 5 cars. I have a 03 ex 5spd stock.. i know for a fact i can beat the 01 civ... but the 00si is another story.. even though he cant shift to well i wanna go out there and spank the crap out of him... i was wondering if a 35 or 50 shot would do it withought hurting the engine.. this is gonna be a one time use just for his lil si.... oh and we'll be racing on the tracks.. im not to partial to racing on the streets anymore for some reason..

Mr.Modify is right on...if do this just to beat an Si, your wasting your time and your money. why would you want it to be a one time thing? just leave it in...its only gonna hurt your engine if your constantly sprayin, which your probly not since you dont street race. just leave it in and use it at the track...
nitrous isnt a real mod in my opinion...anyone can spray...ANYONE. it takes time and money to really build up your car. If i were the Si, i wouldnt even race you if you had nitrous...it wouldnt "really" count if you won...to me anyways

i hate this whole concept...it doesnt make sense. Sure all you have to do with nitrious is hook up the bottle and you're good to go. But thats the same as with an intake, pulleys, headers, exhuast bla bla bla..... The only difference is that nitrious isnt a waste of money. Turbo's i can understand cause you can build them,....but most just write a cheque and pay someone else to hook em up and mantain them. Nitrious IS a real mod, its every bit as fair as a turbo. Nitrous is potentially damaging to your car so you need to watch it and know what you're doing. And it isnt a for sure 55hp on every car all the time. Some times you may get 51 hp...other cars might get 58. There is alot you need to do to your car before you can run nitrious safely at high doses. Intake and exhaust components would probably be best, colder plugs, retarding timing,...bla bla bla..... Its not just like you crack open a can of n2o and add dump it in your gas tank for a kick...there are mechanical do's and donts. So i dont see why it gets ragged on.

Nitrious is no more "un-fair" than a turbo is.....its just that nitrious isnt an all day thing and its a hell of alot cheaper.

^^ very well said. i can get the same gains running a 75 shot as people running low boost numbers 4-5 for about $3000 less. that doesnt mean that im not contimplating boost, but for $550, theres no better power adder, period.

exactly why i dont see it as a real mod...its not on all the time. you put nitrous in your car and run it all day long every day, and then i'll call it a real mod...if i put an intake on, its on all day every day...so is part of my engine....nitrous is cheating, plainly put

You forget one thing. How the heck is he gonna run better than 15.9 with a bone stock EX?
That's just my opinion.

Ive seen low 16's in civic's that are stock. I ran a 16.5 the first time I went to the track. If he's a bad driver, you have a chance. Its not very big, but if you can get it, you won. You said you had a manual, right?

ppl do that already. they have the nitrous set at a certain rpm, everytime they hit that rpm, nitrious kicks in. one of the magizines did it to an rsx-s and i have a friend with a del sol b16a running a 75 shot wet kit that has it set at 5500 rpm, and he red line shifts every damn time he shifts his car.

if they do this, then i would probly consider it a "real" mod to me...but otherwise its not

well the people running tubo's in their daily driver i can gaurentee they're running high boost at the track and next to none other times. Dont forget you can turn tubo's on and off too...just turn down the boost super low....sure you'll still get some gain....but is it worth the extra 3000$???

yea u can.. but can u have it on constantly ? i dont think so... and 5psi of boost creates about 190hp to the crank and 160ish hp to the wheels now ur telling me that if i raced u with 5psi and ur nos created the same hp that u would win? i dont think so.. cause my turbo doesnt create a boost of power for a second.. its constand threw each gear. imp:

and yea i run 6-7psi daily. 11psi is for the track.

yes it would be a good race with him spraying making the same hp due to some turbo lag, and it isnt just a boost for a second, it can be through 1,2,3,4 gear. And nitrous takes more driving skill to use than a turbo. Prime example my friend has a 95 civic hatch with a turbo gsr in it running about 12 psi and my other friend has a 92 hatch same trim level running a 100 shot and they run dead even most of the time, or one wins sometimes and the other wins other times. By the way they both run 12's

you need more faith in nitrous. if you can hook on a nitrous launch, then thats 200 ft-lb+ (i think) of torque right there. turbo wont give that. plus you can spray for a good 15 seconds and not have the motor explode on you. a LOT of track draggers use n2o. they keep it on all the time...

I say just race N/A and kick his a@# try double clutchin if you know how that will help also, also im not sure if you do but if you have a intake other than stock pull the filter off the pipe or if you want take a nylon and put it over the intake insted of having the cone filter it dont make crazy horsepower but it works and wont hurt you engine unless you forget and drive like that..
