my track time..

well took my car to the tracks the other night... didnt do as good as i thought i would. i drive a 03ex cpe manual.

reaction:: 0.5697
60ft:: 2.5754
330ft:: 7.1657
1/8 et:: 10.9589
1/8 mph:: 64.72
1/4 et:: 16.9248
1/4 mph:: 83.19

does the weather affect your time alot? i mean it was about 95 degrees but the track felt way hotter.

but overall do you think that was an ok run?

yes weather has a HUGE affect on your time.

Last time i went to the track my friend ran his truck. Last time in the winter he ran a 14.1 this time he ran a 15.3, his truck is an auto so its consistent.

BTW when i ran the civic i got an 18.34 i know autos are slow but not that slow

What you got done? I went in summer (03 ex manual) and ran a 10.8 and thats the first time i have ever realy run it at the track and my reaction time sucked so i know i can do better plus i had my friend drive it and he thinks i should run a 15.8 in the quart. but i got intake headers 2 1/4 all the way (obx cat back) and custome piped from the headers to the catback and pullys and plugs

hey aframdw, im goin to do the swap as well. i did some research on whether to get the supercharger or turbo and the jackson racing supercharger only gives u another 50hp. the cybernation turbo gives u alot more then that

I don't think that was a bad run. My first trip to the track my best of 3 runs was a 16.8 @ 85mph in the 1/4. At the time I had my wheels and tires (17s), Injen CAI, and Altezzas . It was summer and hot track conditions.

Friday, we went to the track and I ran a 16.3 @ 85mph. It was hot and I have a few more mods... including an HKS rear section, DC short shift adapter, and I used my HKS turbo timer as a shift light.

For being stock, especially with the Firestones, that's an ok run. Weather affects the car a LOT.

I had a short ram, 2" custom exhaust with Magnaflow, and the crappy Firestone tires and I also ran a 16.9.

for a stock civic I think thats an ok time I've heard people say they did better but ya never know. I thin kyour 60' might be a lil too high. get it to 2.4 and youll be in much better shape.

as for afram..... I dont think youd hit 15.8 with a 10.8 1/8 ,
a 10.5 1/8 is about a 15.7 on a celica GTS so i dont think youd hit that just yet.

Well.. here goes another question??? When I launch, I launch between 2000 - 2500rpm. Should I drop the clutch or feather it? And also when i get to the end of first gear to switch to second gear i cant help but spin the tires... sometimes i even try to slow my shifting and I still end up hearing a little chirp.. how do I stop that?

well I'll put it this way at 2k - 2.5k drop it like its hot. lol I launch at 4.5k sometimes 6.5 but you gotta feather like a ****. As far as second you wanna wait til just before rev limiter than shift like theres no tomorrow. if you get a long chirp you clutch foot is too slow. if you get no chirp you messed up if you get a little chirp you perfect. then do the same thing for 3rd ride it all the way then shift like its gotta save your life faster the better make sure your foot is the same speed though. but shifting a 6spd GT-S is way diff than a civic so you might ask those guys that pull good times!! never even driven a 5spd 7thgen.

as an example when I'm going all out shifting I will still get a good pull when shifting into 5th gear @ about 100 mph I can hit 120 immediately. I dont shift to 6 until 140 ish. and if I ride 6 long enough I've hit 155. I'm gonna try to make a vid of a my car shifting soon I'll let you know when I post it!!! anyone with a 7th gen we should do the same good learning tool!!!
