Couple Races in my S

Ok, So the first race in my RSX-S was this past weekend, Saturday night i believe.
At the time, my car was completely stock

I was on Rt. 28 Norbeck Road, when i saw a 2001 Civic cleared headlights on my tail.

So im weaving in and out of traffic to get to open road
So i noticed that i knew the guy! I dont think he posts on 7thgen anymore but i think his name was Vtec747 or something.

anyways, he didnt know it was me i dont think, since i dont have my 2k1 anymore...and just got my windows tinted and couldnt roll them down...

So i slow down and pull next to him and try to get him to race...
hes got a 2001 silver 4 door with I/H/E and maybe some others (dont know what else)
also has Auto

So i hear him floor it, and were only going around 35-40 mph....
he's ahead of me by about 1/2 car length

So i drop it to third and easily blow by him by about 2-3 car lengths
i slow down again and do the same around 35-40 mph...same thing happens....
didnt get to say hi to him or anything...he never looked my way after that

2nd race: last night, after installing my AEM V2, my friend with his Stock S wants to see how the V2 performs...its already 10 pm

i have Revo SS and AEM V2, he is bone stock

We went out for a few spins, and came back and grabbed his car, so we went out to make one run

So as we come to a complete stop at a red light, it turns Green!!!
So i look at him, and say go (people were coming up behind us), so he takes off 1 sec before i do! So im like cr@p....just rev it to around 3k and kind of feather the clutch so to speak.....so hes already ahead of me...i think he just dropped the clutch from around 4k...cause i could hear his wheel spinning and not get too much traction, so hes already ahead of me now...
he keeps pulling through first

i was thinking when i hit Vtec, i would start inching a little bit, but as soon as i saw him shift to second, he pulled hard!

I was like ok, lets see how i do in second....nothing, he just kept pulling.

so we race til about 3rd

i dont know why he kept pulling through every gear....maybe cause i had a really bad launch, or he was already 1 sec in front of me from the start, maybe im a REALLY bad driver? Its not my first time racing, although it was the first time in my S....still fairly new.

Wonder if i should just drop the clutch like he did or feather....since we arent at the track....

i dont do much street racing, but i really wanted to see how the V2 performed compared to stock, and he really wanted a race....wasnt anyone on the road except for 2 cars coming up behind us

Good races. How many miles are on the car? You need to let the motor break in and get use to the car. All you have is more air coming in the car, but the same amount coming out. He stayed in front and pulled on you because he launched before you. Unless you have I/H/E, it will turn out the same way unless you launch together at the same time.

yes it is I-Vtec, I=intelligence
its still a Vtec engine
why wouldn't i "feel" it? sit in a Type S and tell me you don't "feel" it kick in...cause boy it sure does kick in!
When Vtec kicks in, it sounds like i have a cold air intake...thats how freakin loud it is! Maybe not THAT loud...
its got close to 800 miles on it....i really didnt wanna race him yesterday cause its such low mileage, but i really wanted to see how it performed and he wanted to see too.

He wants to go at it again tonight...not sure if i'll do it though...

i've driven my friends typeS...and your right you can feel the vtec kick...when i first read that, i thought you were saying feel it kick like a standard vtec, bc IMO it doesnt kick as hard as vtec in say...a B18. ive never really paid attention to how it sounds, but i would imagine it sounds beautiful. good call on the low mileage thing tho...once you hit break in, go crazy on it. drive it like you hate it, and you'll love..thats what i always say!

like said already becareful with during break in. If the RSX-S is anything like the GT-S then you're breakin will determine what happens to your Ivtec as your car gets older. Mine was well taken care during break in and at 47,000 miles I still hit 167 hp stock on the dyno. thats more than some new ones. I'd say no more Racing until you hit at least 3k same for mods. 10K would be perfect to start modding but this is the real world and we all love to go fast! lol
As far as him pulling so much I'd say you prolly shifted at the wrong RPM so you fell outa your powerband. But thats better since your car is new!!! I think RSX-S hits power at like 5800 right? Anyone can correct me if they want Cause I do have a toyo not acura. Anyways hope my ramblin helped!
